the last in the post lost scifi shows has ended. invasion, with surface, threshold and supernatural, are shows from different networks that tried to follow losts success. however, except supernatural, which has been renewed for the fall season, both others have been cancelled due to lukewarm ratings. ive watched all three series. from the getgo, surfaces plot was a bit less interesting, but it started getting interesting. the pilot for threshold was terrible, but it too got better as time bore on. of the four, id say supernatural is definitely the most annoying, its too much like a bad buffy or angel. you can see the links in the production to those demised series.
all other three were pretty decent, though invasion had the longest run and the most chances for renewal. surface stopped after 15 shows and threshold lasted 14 episodes before being yanked. plotwise, invasion was interesting, though very slow in developping its themes. i have to say that all three shows are not a great loss. and what will the new trend be next season? nbc has slid into 4th rank for the first time. abc & disney are just raking in the dough with lost. another series from abrams called six degrees.
