review of this summers new shows, 4400, windfall, hidden palms

there are quite a few new shows this summer on different networks. from the 4400, the closer, rescue me, windfall and others, the summer season is no longer a time for reruns and reality tv shows. its a time the networks test new shows. ratings are a bit down, but without a crop of new shows to compete with, the benefits are clear.

so i watched the new episodes of the 4400s. the storyline picks up right after last seasons end. here is a short recap. the nova group is a militant faction of 4400s working towards their freedom by militant ways. isabelle is now an adult and she is killing her mother by existing. jordan collier is supposed to be back, but hasnt been seen around yet. maia is attending a new school for the 4400s. there is a congressional hearing on ntac for the development of promicin.

i liked the first season of the 4400s. i found that the end of the series was a bit of a mess. i didnt like the actors that much or their costumes for that matter. especially their stupid shirts. if you notice, the two main characters (tom baldwin and diana skourise) are wearing the same type of outfits, the same type of shirts, colorfull and flailing. federal agents do not wear that. they wear suits, preferably hugo boss and black. i find the premise of the show very interesting, however, the whole tenure of the storyline is a bit drab. but, its one of the rare scifi shows still out there, so its hard not to watch it. like most normal tv shows, i let it play in the backround and do something else. like blog about another tv show while im watching another one. actually, right now, im watching day 51 highlights of big brother australia.i restate that dani is one of the most annoying housemates, with her "awwwww" all the time. she needs to get a vocabulary.

i was somewhat surprised by windfall, the new summer series on nbc. the only reason why i watched it, is because of luke perry. its not because of beverly hills 90210, its actually because of the j. michael stracynski series jeremiah. i really liked it. the story revolves around a group of people winning 386 million dollar in the lottery and the problems that surround this win. there is a lot of intrigue around each person in the show.

hidden palms is a new show on the cw network, the merged network formed by wb and upn. from the surface it looks like another oc clone, a show i cant stand. however, the characters are somewhat messed up and there is a darkness that enveloppes the tale. its not like the failed series point pleasant that got cancelled in about 2 months for low ratings last year. for some reason, the characters are more developped and the darkness is more tangible and interesting than the buffy heritage shows. maybe its because scott winant of huff is directing it. this show is a midseason replacement for the 2006-2007 season.

ever wondered about the 10 percent myth? here it is debunked.

the new season of rescue me just started, and its as good as ever. i think the best bit was when he discovered his cousin was banging his wife. the way he found out at the end of last episode was brilliant. he dropped something during his dads birthday dinner, saw both of them holding hands and put 2 and 2 together and snapped. he beat his cousin to a pulp, no one could stop them.
