In a most surprising development, John and Ash were ejected from the Big Brother Australia house for sexually harassing Camilla on Saturday morning at 04:30AM. A controversy has erupted over this, questioning the purpose of the actual show.
In this post I cover Big Brother, sexual harassment, racism, some photos, Mr Angry’s angry blog and more!
Surprising and controversial developments in Big Brother Australia, that has the media, Endemol staff and the whole of Australia buzzing over the implications.
At approximately 4.30am Saturday morning Ashley and John jumped onto Camilla’s bed. John held down Camilla while Ashley knelt over her, apparently slapping her in the face with his penis. At one stage John was holding Camilla down by her head. The incident went to air over the internet streams and several users recorded screen captures which are now circulating the internet. At the time Camilla was quoted as saying “thats not cool”.
From the behindbigbrother website. From the incident rundown.
How messed up is this. And this followed the kissing/ not kissing task on Thursday, where Camilla was tasked to kiss everyone and Ash was tasked not to be kissed by anyone. There was a mock fight between Camilla and Ash, where she tried desperately to kiss him.
That being said, John and Ash behavior is unacceptable. The whole Big Brother Australia show is on the axe. Channel ten was already thinking about cancelling it for next season. Was this a case of hormones going overboard and cabin fever? Or just plain sexual harassment.
Camilla was a bit fragile over this week, having complained that she didn’t feel attractive and she had noticed that she had gained some weight. She told BB that she didn’t fit in any of her clothes that well anymore. What actually spurned this incident, what made John hold Camilla down whilst Ashley “turkey slapped” her with his wang?
BB had no choice but to remove these offending housemates. I would go further and Camilla should press charges agains Ash and John and sue Endemol along the way. Putting a group full of young singles confined in a house of 100 days is not the best way of going about things.
The feed was cut on Saturday and the threads in the official forums were deleted due to legal reasons said the BB website.
Mr Angry’s blog about general angriness, his post about stormfront, a white supremacist organization, have prompted interesting racist posts from some readers. He was prompted to launch a post ridiculing the aforementioned organization after he received racist spam on his blog. After writing a few articles on racism in Montreal, I followed this discussion. It sheds some light on some of the possible societal problems of Australia, showcased in part on Big Brother. Claire has said before that she didn’t like Asians. And have you noticed how all the contestants are Caucasians? Not to say that Canada or USA don’t have these problems, but for a country 15 hours ahead of Canada that I don’t know that well, it shows a different facet than the beautiful beaches, the deserts and the coasts. Also, I don’t generalize about a whole country or society after only a few comments that I’ve read or opinions shown on Australian TV. I have actually a lot of Australian readers and I like all of them.
A beautiful series of photos about a girl washing her knickers. Here is a link to the complete set.
Aussies dislike Americans intensely. They don’t want to hear about the US; they don’t want to talk to anyone from the US, and they don’t like Americans (even though most of them have never met one), and they surely don’t want an American on ‘their’ forums. But don’t feel bad, Australians are the only people in the world who hate their forebears. They can’t stand a “Pom” (oh yes, name calling a la kindergarten is alive and well in Australia). Australians aren’t prejudiced – they hate everybody.
I think that these organizations do not have a place in our modern society, they just promote hatred. Didn’t Jesus Christ say, “Love yourselves like I have loved you?” [Ed Note, I’m paraphrasing from the French “Aimez-vous les uns les autres comme je vous ai aimés.”].
Aren’t those people Christians? Shouldn’t they be following the basic precept of their religion? But hate always finds a way. Like the suicide bomber finding Jihad a justification for his actions, Like the Israeli soldier firing artillery shells on Palestinian houses, hatred is almost viral in nature. It propagates from the hater to those around them. The more you are exposed to hatred, if you are vulnerable to those kinds of statements, the more you can be affected by them.
Some of the comments I read are disturbing to say the least. Ignorance isn’t bliss. The ignorant should realize that they are ignorant and try to remedy the situation. But as with Plato’s allegory of the cave, some people are glad to be ignorant and unaware and should stay that way.
This is the latest from behindbigbrother.
The decision was made at 9:30pm to bring down the official site forum to quell the speculation and discussions which were becoming legally sensitive.
The source says that Channel 10 management were close to finalising plans about half an hour ago. The decision was that series will be axed, with the remaining 8 housemates sharing the final $275 000.
Tomorrow’s eviction show has been cancelled, being replaced by The Simpsons and a special “Futurama” documentary about the recent resurrection of that series to return in 2008.
I can exclusively reveal that crisis talks have led to tonights eviction show being extended by 90 minutes. Following the first evictee, Gretel will continue to announce new evictees from the house at random, until the big brother house is empty. When all housemates are together on the eviction stage, Gretel will announce that the remaining prize money will be split between them.
The last two items are rumors posted by an undisclosed insider to the BBAU show.

Hahahahahahahaha, I have zero interest in BB but this is funny. The exact behaviour they promote spirals out of their control and they’re surprised. I, for one, will be happy if this is finally declared as an unacceptable level to descend to. I didn’t think they had limits.
As for Australians hating Americans. If it was true: boo fucking hoo. Australians say mean things about the most powerful nation in the world. Deal with it. It isn’t that bad anyway. There’s much more racism towards Asians, it seems you can get away with saying anything to/about Asians in this country. And aborigines are treated like dirt. I really think they are the most badly treated indigenous group in the world.
Broadly, Australia is a very tolerant multicultural society with some appalling outbursts of racism (look up the Cronulla riots for an example). It still tickles me to think Americans are upset at “racism” towards them though.
Hey, I’m Canadian, so I have no problems with that! It’s good comment, I think people need to know more about Australia.
BBAU definitely spiraled out of control, what did they expect, with single 20 somethings in the house. I wouldn’t be surprised if they cancelled the whole thing tomorrow, that’s tonight for all you Aussies.
Interesting to note your observations about Aborigines and Asians, I didn’t want to get into this without further research, but it’s good to have the perspective of someone currently living there.

hhhmmm i dont really like bb, but are yo sure about american & austrailian thing? do i have any problem with any one?
why i feel like living in canadah?! omg, gotta check my map
It’s a quote off a forum, behindbigbrother. It’s not my opinion.
I should add, it isn’t the first time I’ve heard the complaint. I’ve seen newspaper columns written on the topic and our Federal Treasurer thinks schoolkids are being fed anti-American propaganda by evil pinko teachers.
Watch the old Russell Crowe film “Romper Stomper” – it’s about racist skinheads in Melbourne’s inner west. It’s a good movie and scary as hell. The extremity shown in this movie is about an really small minority of nutjobs but it’s quite an eye-opener.
And BB was a fizzer – nothing out of the ordinary, the show’s still running.
what a load a sh@t im an aussie and i dont hate americans and i also feel that most aussies think the same as i do and as for no asians being in the show thats crap as well we had two to begin with on this series so mabe u usa ppl should check ur facts. The only thing we think of u is ur arrogant and u ppl have helped prove that for us by ur ignorance and i also have seen alot worse in other countries big brother series..austalia is a multicultral country.and as for aborigines my town has many and they tend to hate us more than we hate them.Reading ur comments really annoyed and dissapointed me as for i use to admire americans but now i wonder why?
Erika, I am not an American, I am a Canadian.
And I just publish the views that I found on a very popular forum called Behindbigbrother.com.
The comments made are also from some Australians, including Mr Angry and there are more Australians reading the blog. I agree that it is a bit controversial. I have no problems saying that there is racism here in Montreal, Quebec Canada. I am part of a visible minority, so I know things about racism that a Caucasian will never know.
The opinions showcased here on Aboriginals and Asians are from Australians, not from myself. I have never had the pleasure of living in Australia, so I have to rely on others for this kind of information.
Personally, I think there is a problem when a TV show has only Caucasians in it. Be it in American, Australia or somewhere else, it shows the presence of some problems.
Maybe you find it difficult to admit that your home country has some of these issues, but you must know that all countries have these issues. It’s a societal thing.
I was surprised to find out about the American issue as well, but this was a direct quote from the Behindbigbrother forum. You are welcome to verify this through the links I have provided in this article. Click on them and you will find the exact place I quoted them from.
Cheers.
I can’t believe people are so sensitive and naive about most Australians attitude towards Americans. There are MANY people in Australia that say they hate Americans – we say it all the time, but what people are not really understanding is that IT IS A JOKE!! IT IS NOT SERIOUS. Get it through your head people. I would be surprised if you could find an American or English (pom) for that matter, that would say they FELT any hatred towards them in Australia. Australia is inevitably tied to both England and America, and we make fun of them in a good natured way. Dont take it seriously, deep down we love you!
Yeah, and we Canucks love you Aussies too! We are part of the Commonwealth.
