Christmas Day Or How Teachers Work In Taiwan

A long view from the hidden building of the Lakeshore Hotel in Hsinchu Taiwan. Taken with a Nikon D200 and a 18-35mm Nikkor lens on the 19th of December 2006. Part of the Lakeshore Series 3.

Right now I’m listening to a mix from Dj Preach, one of the local DJs from Montreal Canada who is doing quite well in the international scene. He has done recordings a lot of illustrious lables, including Pornographic from Marco Bailey. The last I heard from him, he was moving to Prague.

It’s Christmas day, and we are all working. Yesterday, we had a grand old time at Liezel and Iutian’s place. My wife had kind of lost the spirit of Christmas, but the nice dinner and company followed by You, Me And Dupree was rekindled it. It was a great night, even though if it took me an hour to get the ice cream from the RT Mart; I couldn’t figure out why it was so light, the ice cream packet I mean. I compared it to a Hägen-Dazs tub, and even if the other one was a lot smaller, the one I was buying was so much lighter. The RT Mart was filled with shoppers. Sunday, not the best time to go. I saw one of my wife’s students. I came back, and my wife dropped off some photos to get printed. We stopped at FE21 to pick up a present for our Secret Santa at work. We managed to be only half an hour late to the dinner.

A different view from the spa building, further away from the Lakeshore five star hotel in Hsinchu Taiwan. Taken with a Nikon D200 and a 18-35mm Nikkor lens on the 19th of December 2006. Part of the Lakeshore Series 3.

No trouble really, since we were only eating later on. I took some interesting pictures, but they are all in the process of being uploaded. It might be this week or next week before I can post them, because of my quota limit on my zooomr account. I’ve just noticed that I have 500 MB left for the rest of the month. I have at least another 800 photos to upload. Right now, I’m uploading the last few photos from the Lakeshore Series 3. One thing though, for the photos taken during the Christmas concert, I will probably just upload the best ones, since they are just of a Christmas event, not of night photography.

Anyways, dinner and company was most excellent and we really appreciated it, being in Taiwan without our families!

One of the reasons that I posted this post about myself is that I have a keen interest in memetics. Using my experience, I was able to quadruple the daily hits on my blog since November. I am quite pleased with the result. Another reason is that I have kept most of my personal details and professional ones private, because of privacy issues. Since moving to Taiwan and since shifting the focus of The Memoirs towards a travelogue and Taiwan, I feel that the quality of the posts has improved. Readers are also able to know me better since before I used to keep a clear distance. I have also made an effort to post multiple posts per day. As you can see from the right sidebar, I have posted 37 posts already in December. I plan on hitting at least 50 posts for the month of December.

I feel bad though since I have not found the time in my busy schedule to continue my writing of Galactic Rim. I have promised readers time and time again to continue publishing chapters, but have not been able because of my new and very busy schedule. However, I plan on posting a new chapter this week. I have also written a few new stories and plan on publishing them as well before the end of 2006. I wouldn’t mind doing a Masters in litterature and publishing a book for it. I have also a few new ideas on new science-fiction stories that I plan on working on in the coming weeks.
