You Should Go To Sleep When

A factory seen on the way back to my car after the St-Jean-Baptiste Fête in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Taken on the 23rd of June 2006, taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-P93 5.1 MP camera. Part of the Quebec City Lights Series.

Everybody has had these days.

The days that you think would be better spent catching up on some sleep.

I feel it is always hard to complain about such things, because there are always people working harder than you. I can think of a few teachers, working at another language school every weeknight, from 6 to 9PM after their shift at work from 8 to 5PM.

Or the plant manager from a company at the Hsinchu Science Park who only comes home at 9 or 10 PM every night.

  • When you forget your toast in the toaster oven and everybody at work knows that it is your toast waiting there.
  • When it hurts to be awake.
  • Your eyes are closing by themselves though you still want to be awake.
  • You are super grumpy, and just want to nag or boss a few people around for kicks.
  • When you start feeling awake when it’s time to go home at 4PM.
  • When you take naps whenever you can.
  • You fall asleep on the couch with your cup of tea on your chest, only to get startled awake and drop the tea on your chest just a bit.
  • When you have dreams when you are awake.
  • When you start hallucinating.
  • When you feel giddy with fatigue and feel like you will float away.
  • When you drink 7-10 cups of tea or coffee to keep you going during the day.
  • You try to rub the fatigue out of your eyes.
