The man with the plan.
At work and in most situations, it is always better to have a plan.
As well as a backup plan. Or a plan B. You never know what will happen.
There are so many things to consider, you can not always predict the outcome.
Now there is a difference between planning and mapping things out in advance or just obsessing about them. One of the easy ways of seeing if you are planning or just obsessing is to see if you came up with something new.
If you just go over the situation, over and over in your head… Well, that is just obsessing.
I find that mulling over things and thinking about them gives me insight. I can project and try to predict what might happen and come up the best possible scenario. There is naturally, no way of predicting with total certainty, but you can always count on a few things whilst elaborating strategies.
Trust that people will act the same as they did in the past, so if you know a person pretty well, you will know that their reaction will be.
Always have a backup plan. As much as you would like things to work out the way you planned, they don’t always do. Prepare a contingency plan.
Keep it simple. Don’t try to complicate things when you can keep them as simple as possible.
Be prepared for things to go wrong. Again, Murphy’s Law says that what can go wrong will go wrong, but at least you tried.
Try pissing off the least amount of people. In life, you will piss people off, no matter what you do. Pissing people off with large amounts of money is never good either.
