Worst Day Ever

Wat Phra Si Sanphet in Ayutthaya Historical Park, in Thailand. This is most important Wat in the whole city. This is a shot of one of the three main towers. Part of the Ayutthaya Series in the Thailand Chronicles.

Teaching at my school just hit the bottom of the barrel.

Today is pretty much the worst day.

Not just because we are teaching on a Saturday. I have taught a few Saturdays before, and that is not the problem. Also, I have worked at a buxiban in Taipei on Fridays and Saturdays without any problems either.

Yesterday is my longest teaching day. 8 hours. I have just been informed that I will be teaching the Friday schedule again today. Which means that I will be teaching another 8 hours today. This totally sucks in my book, because I was expecting to teach 5 hours, since we missed this Wednesday’s classes, right?

Nope!

This make-up day is for the 23rd of February that we missed a while back. That day was a Friday, so we are teaching a Friday once more.

Man, sometimes the BS just gets to me too much.

Here I am sitting with minutes to spare before my freaking day starts, and it will be like this the whole day. I got 2×201, 2×202 Science. 3×401 and 1×402 today. Having 401 for 3 periods is hard, but I have a system. Having them 2 days in a row for 3 hours is another story.

Also, because of what is happening his Sunday, I guess I can put my temper into my pocket and stow it for a few days. I hate BS, but at my post right now, I am surrounded by BS all day long. My advice to you, is to only work for foreigners, you will cut out all of the BS permanently and not have to deal with this crap.

I have also underestimated the number of photos to upload. I think I still have 2000 left. I have uploaded 200 I think in the last few hours. Still, I hope to finish uploading the 500 that are left in my current set, Ayutthaya, before I have to pack it up.

Well, half the day is over and I still have 4 periods left. I hate being on the run like this for two days straight. At least it all went by smoothly. For once, lunch was good. I had a lot of food, soup and fruits. This is the first time this week that the cafeteria food was eatable.

It is such a beautiful day, not a day I want to spend inside in school, but outside, riding my scooter doing the last few things in Hsinchu that looked interesting, such as the glass museum and a few other things, like taking pictures of the Science Park at night. But I guess that it will have to wait.

They have shortened the lunch period from 1 hour and 40 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes. It makes a big difference.

As much as I would like to just go through the motions, as a teacher that is next to impossible for me. Kids are always coming up to you and asking questions. You get involved, there is no way around it. You just can’t sit at your desk and let time go buy.

And as much as I would like to be irritated by having to explain the same thing over and over again, I can’t. Because they are just kids and some of them need to go over it at least 3 times before they get it. And on top of that, English is their second language.

Some of them are really cute, like Kitty and her twin Miffy, both in different classes (They are 7 years old). Took me one period to tell the difference. Kitty is a bit smaller and has a beauty spot on the top of her forehead, next to her hairline. They tell me that their old friends sometimes can not tell the difference between them.

Considered patience my friend is the most overrated virtue. Work can be a big BS sometimes. It happened to me this week, I’m suppose to be taking my 5 days leave but since one of my colleague submitted the resignation effective this coming Monday, no way I can take the holiday.

But if I’m a teacher myself, I do think Sat or Sun is my own fun day! :D
