New Place New City

We just finished moving into our new place. We will be staying here for about 3 months. It’s quite comfortable and we have a lot more privacy than in our other place.

I really hate moving.

Why?

In my life, I have moved a lot of times. It includes the year where we moved 4 times. We moved into a place for 9 months, moved out and put all our stuff in storage. Moved in with family for a month and moved out again into our condo. It was hell.

At least, in Taiwan, we do not have a lot of things, so moving is pretty quick.

This time around, it took about an hour and half to move our stuff out and into the new place.

This is because we just left most of our stuff in boxes.

There is fast internet here (8mbs down, 2mbs up), but I need to get a little program from Chungwa Telecom so that I can use it. That will have to wait until Monday and Tuesday.

(Actually, it was a bit more complicated than that, but I won’t get into the details. Suffice it to say that right now, we have the internet. And you didn’t need a program; with winXP, you just need your username and password to surf.)

I am quite sleepy and I will most probably take a nap today.

(I did take a 4 hour nap, got up read some more Red Mars and went back to sleep again after I had finished it and started Green Mars)

I didn’t sleep that much and spent most of the time packing and moving.

It was a short move, but then again moving is always tiring.

We will be moving again at the end of June, hopefully we won’t have to move again for a year or so. I’ve been thinking about my dog Spike. It’s hard to do that, because he has been my constant companion for over 2 years. And all of a sudden, he was no more. By the end of July, I hope that he will be in Taiwan.

As much as we would like to live in Banqiao (板橋市) or Singjhuang (新莊市), I think we would prefer being closer to the city, because wasting a 2 hours a day on public transport isn’t the best of things.

Today and tomorrow will be the last few days that I have to run errands. After that, it will be back to our usual selves.

I find it strange how the mosquitoes come up through the drains to bite you. This has happened in both places that we have lived in Taipei County (台北縣). It’s a bit annoying, because it doesn’t matter how many you swat away, there’s always more coming out, just like some kind of a strange video game.
