Moonlight S01E02 (CBS)

If you look closely, you will see that I captured a plane in the top right corner of this picture of the Lover’s bridge in Danshui (淡水鎮).

In this episode, Mick has to deal with someone from his past who is still alive. The release of LJ will cause a lot of trouble for Mick and he will have to deal with the fallout in subsequent episodes. Mick almost dies and has to reveal his true nature to another person.

This episode was OK. It was a bit much though that a human could cause so much trouble for Mick. As a vampire, he should have some sort of protections in place to deal with this kind of thing. We learn that Beth has a boyfriend named Josh who works in the DA’s office. I am surprised though at how large the office for Buzzwire is. It’s actually bigger than some TV stations, which is surprising since it’s a vblog, nothing more. Still it’s a glimpse of the future, when the media on the web will take off even more than it does right now.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Beth is interviewing Julia Steven about Lee Jay Spalding, who spent 25 years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Mick isn’t happy about this.

In LA in 1983, Mick’s client was killed. It was made to look like a suicide. He was going to kill Lee Jay, but Mick made a mistake. A cop showed up and he had to stop. Lee Jay knows what Mick is. He tells Joseph. Lee Jay plans on hunting vampires.

Beth is having dreams about Mick. She is with her boyfriend who isn’t happy about hearing her scream out Mick’s name.

Julia Steven is Beth’s friend. She tells him about Mick St-John and that he almost beat Julia Steven to death.

Mick tells Beth that the person in the photos was his father. He warns her about Lee Jay. Lee Jay is still preparing for a hunt.

Lee Jay is at his book launch. Mick plants a GPS tracker on Julia’s car. He meets him and the reporter. He gives Beth the case file that couldn’t be admitted in court.

Mick confronts Lee Jay, but he stakes Mick rapidly. Before Mick can react, LJ warns him off and bashes his head through a window. He then cries for assault.

In the past, a woman hired him to keep LJ away. He beats him up and thought the situation was resolved. After this, the woman was found killed. This is what led to Mick trying to kill LJ.

Beth pays a visit to Bobby Diamond, the original detective on the case. He is retired. She finds out that there is a problem with Mick, that he never had a son.

Mick comes back and finds LJ in his home. LJ has taken his gun and he shoots himself in the shoulder. He then calls the cops. Mick has to leave.

He has to call Joseph to help him out. Beth doesn’t believe that Mick attacked LJ. Beth believes him and helps him broadcast it to the world.

After being released from the hospital, LJ calls Beth. He gives Mick an ultimatum. Turn himself into police custody or Julia dies. Josh helps Mick out by trying to get a fake statement from LAPD public affairs. Beth has the presence of mind to record the conversation. It sheds a different light onto LJ.

They use the tracker to find LJ. Mick is driving a cool old Mercedes convertible. In cherry red.

Mick saves Julia, but gets shot twice with silver buckshot by LJ. When LJ is about to toast Mick with an acetylene torch, Beth comes in and shoots LJ.

Beth turns up at his apartment while he is trying to heal himself from the silver shots. He is drinking blood when she bursts him and he tells her he is a vampire. He is still changed.
