I went to bed early last
light. Last night.
I’ve learned some interesting news about one school. My morning work hours are spread around two schools of the same branch. It’s a bit of a hassle to go to two different places on different days, but after a few weeks I got used to it. In fact, I like the school where I spend most of my time a lot better. It’s the smaller school. At the big school, they just put too much pressure on everyone. A foreign teacher confided in me that she was getting side-effects from the stress she was under.
I was thinking about this and I realized that the big school is like a prison camp. For the teachers as well as for the students. I don’t like it at all anymore. Partially because of certain issues.
But I digress.
This is what I learned about the smaller school I go to in the mornings. Mandy, Joanne, Elsa, Ellen, Amanda and another teacher are all leaving that school. They are Taiwanese teachers. Some of the are homeroom teachers. Others are English teachers. And another is responsible for the English department. They are all fed-up with the principal.
With my upcoming departure, looks like the principal is in deep shit. I can see the school scrambling to get new Taiwanese teachers to fill the gaps. The supervisor was telling me how their foreign teachers stayed for years. I don’t believe her. I know that she is lying, because the guy before me left because of the obnoxious and condescending teaching director. He lasted two months.
At my other school, the new manager thanked me. I think that she was going to get rid of me. The main reason for this is that the school doesn’t have big enough classes. The classes are from 5 to 10. She probably plans on merging classes. She’s evaluating the students right now. The other foreign teacher says that he will give it a try. He’s been there for over a year. He’ll try, but he doesn’t have much faith in the manager. He’ll probably end up leaving as well. He confided in me that one of the other schools he works with is closing.
