Torchwood Exit Wounds S02E13 (BBC)

Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.

From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.

The season finale of the second season of Torchwood wasn’t bad. It wasn’t that good either. I was actually surprised. Most of this season’s shows were abysmal. In this episode, we find out who the true villain is. It’s someone from Jack’s path and he lays siege to Cardiff because Jack cares about the city.

Needless to say, a few members die a final death. Why do I say this? Well there are some members of the team, like Owen, who are already dead. Another one joins the list of the dead. Captain Jack and Captain John both survive and I gather that Captain John will join the cast for the next season. More gay love!

I’m just happy that Doctor Who started again. I wish that Russel Davies would write Torchwood. It would be a lot more interesting.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

It’s that time again. It’s time again for the last episode of Torchwood and the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who. The UK is six hours ahead of EST, that means that the new episode of Doctor Who has already aired. I’ll be watching it later tonight.

In the last episode, Captain John Hart blew up the Torchwood team. He’s holding Jack’s brother Gray hostage.

Toshiko is detecting a lot of rift activity. Jack returns to Torchwood Cardiff. Gwen goes to the police station. Andy just called her. John is waiting for Jack. John pumps Jack full of two full magazines of rounds of MP5K machine guns.

Andy tells Gwen about the Weevils. They killed the four most senior offices at the station.

Ianto and Toshiko go to the central server station. They have been complaints of ghosts. They find some people in grim reaper costumes. They shoot them.

At St-Helen’s hospital, Owen finds a Hoyx. He uses fags to bait it and to take it out.

John has Jack strung up. Jack wants to know about Gray. He uses the controls at Torchwood to set off something off. He takes Jack up to a good vantage point. He calls the rest of the Torchwood team and tells them to get to the top of their buildings. He blows up parts of Cardiff thanks to his explosives. He hugs Jack and they both blink away through a rift flare thanks to the rift manipulator at Torchwood.

Tosh tells Gwen that all of the IT, cell phones, television, radio and landlines are down.

Jack wakes up in Cardiff, 27AD. John shows Jack why he did this all. He did it all because he’s got a bomb bonded to his skin. He’s been doing this under orders. He was ordered to do this because of Gray. Gray walks up and hugs Jack. Gray knifes Jack.

Tosh and Ianto are trying to stop the Turnhill nuclear reactor from going into meltdown. Gray tells him that he was tortured. He plans on burying Jack where the city will be founded in the following years. He will revive and then choke again and again on the earth.

Gray orders John to bury Jack. Gray time jumps back to Torchwood and visits the Weevils. Tosh detects his arrival. Gwen arrives. John is there. He wants to help Gwen find Jack. His explosive device unbonds from John’s wrist. The ring that John threw into Jack’s grave was a transmitter. Tosh can’t find the signal.

Gray releases the Weevils. Swarms of Weevils have been released into the city.

Owen thinks that he can help with the Weevils since he is the king of them. They bow down to him.

When John helps to put the Weevils into the cages, Gray locks them in. Ianto, Gwen and John are locked away.

Owen arrives at the Turnhill nuclear station. Tosh is helping him from Torchwood. Gray shoots her. Gray hears a knocking. It’s Jack in the #003 body locker. He was found in 1901. He told Torchwood to freeze him for a hundred years. He couldn’t meet himself.

He tells Gray that he forgives Gray. As they embrace, Jack knocks Gray out.

John jury-rigs something to recall the Weevils. Tosh restores power to the Turnhill power station. She sees that it’s too far gone, there is no way to stop the meltdown. It’s time to channel the fuel into the bunker where Owen is. The meltdown will be contained.

Jack releases Owen, John and Ianto. Owen is imprisoned in the bunker because of a power surge. Tosh and Owen say their goodbyes. The coolant starts to leak. Owen dies a final death. Tosh dies in Jack’s arms from her bullet wound.

Jack puts Gray away in the cryo-freezer.

Tosh left a message for the team on the network. She tells the team that she loves Owen, not knowing that he’s died a final death.
