Women’s Murder Club Grannies Guns And Lovemints S01E04 (ABC)

Women’s Murder Club is a police procedural drama on ABC based on the James Patterson books. It features a series of women who work together to solve cases. Lindsay Boxer is a Detective Inspector in the San Fransisco PD. Jill Bernhardt is the ADA. Claire Washburn is the medical examiner. Cindy Thomas is a reporter that works with them on police cases.

I haven’t read the James Patterson books, but the title is pretty lame. I mean, come on. Women’s murder club? WTF! Basically the main characters are all in one aspect of law enforcement, from the police, to the coroner to the DA’s office. A new member of the club is part of the media.

When I think of the title of this show, I think about a bunch of women drinking tea and investigating a murder. None of them would be involved in law enforcement, they’d just be interested in murders and solving them, kind of like a babysitter club. OK, maybe not a babysitter club, but you get the idea.

I still haven’t made up my mind about this show. The really annoying part is that there is a lot of the story missing, like how did Lindsay get divorced and what exactly did happen during the Kiss Me Knot serial killer case? Maybe the show plans on revealing this later on or maybe the series is based on one book in a series and we are missing a few key details. The fact that they producers and writers chose to make the show about a new case every episode is telling. If it focused on the Kiss Me Knot killer, it would have taken a story arc to find out who killed the women. Currently, three new episodes are in the process of being aired. The first two have been aired. Only the last one is left. The show’s current status is still uncertain.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Cindy and Jill try and corner Lindsay to reveal juicy details of her date last night, but she just runs off to see Claire and the results of an autopsy. The autopsy was mandatory. She died in her sleep. Claire finds drugs in her stomach.

Lindsay and Warren question the family. The victim Edna James was retired on her way back from Mexico. They visit the victim’s home, Pacific Heights. The residents were accompanied by the social director and a nurse. The director is absent from the facility. Someone in the bullpen wants to ask Lindsay out. Warren isn’t telling.

They find the social director dead from an OD. Reese was shot up with heroin and took her head through a glass table. In the bedroom they find more dope.

A robbery homicide detective named Hollis asks Lindsay out over the dead body.

Tom asks Jill if Lindsay would be upset if she didn’t get an invite to his wedding.

Lindsay and Warren come back to the retirement home. The drug dogs bark at Harold, the suave retiree that keeps hitting on Lindsay. He’s got Viagra and some pot. He’s got a prescription from Dr. Pool, the community physician.

Dr. Pool’s license was revoked a few years ago. It was reinstated. He lost it because of substance abuse.

Lindsay makes a speech to her bullpen that she isn’t on the market. They are interrogating Dr. Pool. Reese didn’t have any drug problem. Claire has two more OD’s from the same heroin that killed Reese. The heroin has been cut with a powerful sedative. It is lethal. Jill sees that one of the bodies is Robert Danies. Jill had contacted him to find out more about seniors being used as drug mules. He has the name Vega in his pocket.

Edna wanted to change her mind about her will. She wanted to leave part of her estate to Logan Young, a nurse at the home.

Several of the residents that passed away left part of their estate to Logan Young.

Young says that Harold was sleeping with Edna and a few other residents. There is a lot of bed hopping going on in a home. A resident of the home tells Lindsay that a lot of bad things are happening here. She thinks that someone is snapping pictures of her while she bathes. She’s off her rocker. The find Harold passed out. He was close to dying. He was almost in a diabetic coma, even though he isn’t diabetic. Lindsay wants a uniform to babysit him.

Some evidence links Edna’s son in law to Reese’s death. Harold wakes up and tells the tale of Dennis, who kept bleeding Edna dry for money for his business. Edna’s nest egg was gone and the home was threatening to kick her out. Alan Douglas the administrator was doing the threatening. He says that Douglas likes large women. He also threatened a few other residents. A few residents sign over their estates to cover the expense. The money had dried up and they were worried about being kicked out. All of these residents were on the trip to Mexico.

Dennis hires ex-cons to do his yardwork. Douglas was investing money that the was supposed to hold in trust. He kept the profits until the markets crashed. He had to pay back the money so that he used the Dennis Iverson connection to set up the drug mules.

Jacobi brings Dennis to the interrogation room. He admits that it was Douglas’ idea. The old people agreed in order to stay in the home. He says that Douglas killed Edna to cover his tracks.

They go to arrest Douglas and he pulls a gun. He starts shooting. Lindsay tackles him after he empties his revolver.
