Battlestar Galactica is an Emmy Award winning science fiction television program created by Ronald D. Moore that first aired on October 18, 2004 in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Sky One, and January 14, 2005 in the United States on SCI FI. Repeats of episodes have been shown in the United States on SCI FI, NBC, Bravo, and in high definition on Universal HD.
Battlestar Galactica continues from the 2003 mini-series to chronicle the journey of the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol after their nuclear annihilation by the Cylons. The survivors are led by President Laura Roslin and Commander William Adama in a ragtag fleet of ships with the Battlestar Galactica, a powerful but old warship, as its command ship. Pursued by Cylons intent on wiping out the remnants of the human race, the survivors travel across the galaxy looking for the fabled and long-lost thirteenth colony: Earth.

Because of the WGA strike, we will only be seeing a 8 or 10 episode season this year. The other episodes will air in 2009.
That being said, the end of the last season was spectacular. It was revealed that Colonel Tigh, Sam Anders, the Chief and Tory Foster were four of the five final Cylon models. On top of that, Kara Thrace returned to the fleet with a message from Earth.
I used to think that Thrace was the final Cylon model. I’m no longer sure of this, although her disappearance and reappearance is hard to swallow without thinking about Cylons, I believe that Thrace is the key to Earth. She believes that too. No one else believes this, except Apollo naturally and maybe the Admiral. He’s known her for too long to think that she’s just gone bonkers.
The Cylon baseship jumps back with the Demetrius, but there is a problem. The Demetrius follows a few moments later, but that is enough to send the Colonial Fleet scrambling away. Kernel Tigh is able to stop the attack on the ship housing their own crew.
Roslin accepts Six’s alliance for now. She wants to destroy the Cylon ability to download. Actually, she just wants to unbox the Threes. In order to do that, they need to go to the Cylon Resurrection Hub. Six plans on destroying it. Once Three tells them who the last five Cylon models are, the humans will know how to get to Earth.
Roslin decides to explore her shared visions with Baltar and the hybrid. Things go wrong when the hybrid is plugged back in.
This was a great episode. I like how theological the difference between the different factions of the Cylon civil war are. One part believes that the final five models need to be found. The other is dead set against it. I’m not surprised by what Athena did. Hera has always had a strong connection with the Sixes.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The President is hearing another Baltar broadcast. Lee Adama is worried that the President is just pushing this aside, without thinking about it. The recording alleges that Roslin shares hallucinogenic illusions with Athena and Six. She reveals that Baltar is telling the truth. Lee thinks that the President should respond in some fashion.
The Cylon baseship is getting ready to jump to the fleet. Six tells Athena that her daughter Hera must be very beautiful. There is a problem. The Demetrius didn’t jump. The Cylon baseship jumped by itself. It’s pandemonium on the Galactica.
The fleet is jumping away to a safe rendez-vous point. Nanoseconds before the vipers start firing, Saul stops the attack. A few moments later, the Demetrius jumps in and tells the fleet not to fire.
Six briefs Roslin and Adama. The 2s, 6s, 8s want to find the final five. The 1s, 4s, 5, are violently opposed to such action. She says that the 3s are boxed after the battle on the algae planet. The D’Annas saw the faces of the final five. If she is unboxed, she can reveal their identity. The final five have been to Earth. If they are found, they can show the way back. They need raiders.
The boxing facility is in the Cylon Resurrection Hub. This hub controls the functions of every resurrection ship in existence. It periodically jumps to random locations. Six wants the hub destroyed. The Cylons will lose their ability to download. Six agrees to give the location of the hub in exchange for the Admiral’s word that they will be able to leave with the final five models. The final five are hidden among the colonial fleet.
The Admiral sends a raptor the location of the hub. It’s confirmed.
Gaeta isn’t doing well. They have to amputate.
The fleet jumps back to the Galactica. Helo proposes to take half of the wing on board of the baseship. Roslin wants to do as it was proposed, but she wants to keep the five on board until they get to Earth.
The quorum is informed of what Roslin has planned.
Anders is freaking out. The four hidden models are having a little meeting. They don’t make much headway.
Roslin wants to know who is behind the shared vision rumor. She pushes Tory to find out since she has been sleeping with Baltar.
Six talks with Leoben and Eight. She doesn’t think that the humans will hand over the five. They will take hostages. The humans on the ship will be hostages until the five are handed over. They have come too far to rely on trust alone.
Gaeta has been singing to get through the amputation. Anders knows this and it tortures him for what he has done. Roslin is in the sick bay for her treatments. Lee pays her a visit. He tells her that the quorum is considering a vote of no-confidence in her presidency. He tells her that she needs to talk with the quorum. Let the Cylon leader speak with them, anything to put their fears to rest.
Tory is in bed with Baltar. She isn’t responsive. She says that Baltar has been lying about the shared visions. Baltar says that this is the truth. Baltar says that Caprica Six revealed this to him through his attorney during the last days of his trial, when things were looking bad.
Roslin speaks with the quorum. Six comes to talk with the quorum. Six makes a speech about the significance of being away from the security net of the resurrection ship. In order to live, they must die and not return. Six says that it was destiny that brought Kara Thrace to them. While looking at Six, Kara sees the hybrid and what she said to her on the baseship.
Roslin dreams of Hera. Athena is looking for her. They all share a dream. They see each other. Caprica Six is there. She cradles Hera. Baltar is there. Six brings the child to Baltar in a glowing room. Athena wakes up and sees Hera looking at her. She says bye bye.
Starbuck visits Roslin in the sickbay. She tells her of the hybrid’s words. The dying leader shall know the truth at the opera house. Kara tells her about the hybrid and her words. The hybrid knows of Roslin’s dreams. Roslin wants the visions to stop. She wants to know what they mean.
Six reports to Leoben and Eight. She says that they were wrong. They are still trying to deceive the humans. The final five might refuse to come with them. Leoben says that it’s too late. Six wants to tell the humans the truth. Leoben wants to stall for time. Six should stall, Leoben will try and deal with the Centurions.
Baltar gets summoned by the President. She wants to go see the hybrid.
In Athena’s cabin, Hera has been drawing Six repeatedly. All of a sudden, she goes missing. Athena pursues her. Hera has come to find Six. Ahtena pulls a gun on Six to get her away from Hera.
Eight plugs the hybrid in. As soon as the hybrid is plugged in, the Cylon baseship jumps away.
Athena has Tyrol get Hera. She tells Six that she will never take her child. She kills Six.
