Battlestar Galactica is an Emmy Award winning science fiction television program created by Ronald D. Moore that first aired on October 18, 2004 in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Sky One, and January 14, 2005 in the United States on SCI FI. Repeats of episodes have been shown in the United States on SCI FI, NBC, Bravo, and in high definition on Universal HD.
Battlestar Galactica continues from the 2003 mini-series to chronicle the journey of the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol after their nuclear annihilation by the Cylons. The survivors are led by President Laura Roslin and Commander William Adama in a ragtag fleet of ships with the Battlestar Galactica, a powerful but old warship, as its command ship. Pursued by Cylons intent on wiping out the remnants of the human race, the survivors travel across the galaxy looking for the fabled and long-lost thirteenth colony: Earth.
From the Wikipedia entry for Battlestar Galactica.
Because of the WGA strike, we will only be seeing 10 episode season this year. The other episodes will air in 2009.
That being said, the end of the last season was spectacular. It was revealed that Colonel Tigh, Sam Anders, the Chief and Tory Foster were four of the five final Cylon models. On top of that, Kara Thrace returned to the fleet with a message from Earth.
I used to think that Thrace was the final Cylon model. I’m no longer sure of this, although her disappearance and reappearance is hard to swallow without thinking about Cylons, I believe that Thrace is the key to Earth. She believes that too. No one else believes this, except Apollo naturally and maybe the Admiral. He’s known her for too long to think that she’s just gone bonkers.
In this episode, the President and the Cylons go after the Resurrection Hub. They are successful in destroying it getting D’Anna off the facility before it explodes. Thanks to the President’s back handed deals, things go sour after a while. She ordered Helo to bring D’Anna to her. D’Anna has nothing to say, except that when she is reunited with the Final Five Cylon models safely on the Colonial Fleet, she’ll help out the President. Roslin has no choice but to comply.
Roslin also has to decide if she can let Baltar die or if she will save him. Each time the Hybrid jumps, she sees visions about her choices. In the end, she can’t go through with it and saves Baltar. Baltar did confess that he was in part responsible for the destruction of the 12 colonies.
I thought that this was a great episode. It’s going to be a great way to end this series.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Two days ago, the Hybrid jumped the damaged Cylon baseship away from the fleet. The President wanted answers. The President sees herself on board the Galactica. She sees a priestess who has been long dead. The President appears once again in real space. An Eight is trying to figure out why the ship jumped. Baltar wants to talk with it, but it jumps again. During this ship, the priestess shows Roslin herself in the sick bay, clinging onto life as the cancer ravages her body.
The baseship is in real space. The Hybrid says that the Six is back in the stream. Baltar asks why the Hybrid is jumping. The Hybrid says that the Six that went among the Makers is no longer. Eight realizes that Natalie has been killed or damaged.
Baltar tries to calm the Hybrid, but it jumps the ship once again. Roslin sees the Adamas around her dying body. Another version of the priestess is talking to the dying Roslin.
Eight thinks that the ship is jumping after the Hub.
Helo thinks that they should jump in cold in order to hide that there are humans here. They come up with a plan. The Eight tries to massage him. Helo is suspicious when Eight massages him the same way as Athena. Helo realizes this and asks her about this. Eight says that she accessed Athena’s memories from her last download. The memories are part of her now. Helo leaves and goes to see the President.
The President wants to see D’Anna alone first in order to find out who the Five are.
At the Resurrection Hub, D’Anna is unboxed. Cavil and an Boomer are there. He tells her that it’s a civil war.
The Viper pilots are being briefed about Helo’s plans. They are not happy to learn of his stratagem to get near the Resurrection Hub. They are going to be towed in cold by heavy raiders. The Eight makes a speech.
Roslin and Baltar are trying to talk with the Hybrid. It isn’t very effective. Hybrid says that they need to protect the child. She later says that the doors are closing. Roslin says that she wants the doors open. The Hybrid sits up and says that the Three is online. D’Anna is back in a body.
As soon as they jump, Roslin is back on the Galactica talking with the priestess.
Baltar is talking with a Centurion. It’s strange. He’s trying to manipulate them to his advantage.
Helo has some doubts about Roslin’s plan about the D’Annas. They arrive at the Hub. Twenty-five heavy raiders are launched. The raiders launch the Vipers. D’Anna kills Cavil.
The Eight and Helo board the Hub to find D’Anna. They get her out.
The Centurion Baltar was talking to is blown up in an explosion. It looks like Baltar is injured. Roslin performs first aid on him. He talks how he was transformed thanks to his God. He confesses to Roslin that he gave access to Cylons to Caprica. At the time that it happened, he didn’t know what he was doing. He blames himself for what happened. But God made them all perfect, and in that thought, the guilt flies away. He wants her to pray with him.
She takes off her bandages and lets him bleed out. The baseship jumps and the priestess tells her that Baltar isn’t worth what she is doing. He is worth saving. In her vision, she sees herself die. The Admiral is watching over her.
She wakes up and puts Baltar’s bandage back. He’s still alive.
Helo tells the Eight that he’s been ordered to bring D’Anna to the President. Baltar isn’t doing well. D’Anna says that it’s called double dealing. Eight is disappointed. She sees that her trust was misplaced.
Helo finds the President lying in fetal position. Baltar is still alive. She orders Helo outside. She wants a private chat with D’Anna. D’Anna implies that Roslin is one of the Final Five. She’s just joking. She says that she will tell Roslin who the Final Five are when she’s safe back at the human fleet.
Roslin is with the Hybrid. The ship jumps. In her vision, she still talks with the priestess. Now the President is seeing visions. The Admiral is waiting for Roslin in the Raptor and sees it appear in the distance. He boards and finds Roslin waiting for him.
She says that she loves him. He says it’s about time.
