
Don talks with his wife’s therapist. He wants an update on how things are going. She suffers from anxiety about her housewife duties. It’s all related to the death of her mother.
Roger meets Carol, Joan’s roommate. Joan wants to go away. Roger’s wife and daughter are away. He wants her to come over. She says that she needs more notice. Roger reels in Dan to go take a drink with him. Roger tells Don that Mona hasn’t cooked for him since Margaret stopped eating. Don invites him over for dinner. He calls Betty to tell her. Betty ends up eating only salad. Roger gets her steak.
For dessert, they all eat chocolate cake. At the same time, they all pull out cigarettes and light them. They’ve been smoking all dinner. Roger is inappropriate with Betty in the kitchen. He’s drunk and feels her up a bit. He made a pass at her. Roger walks up with a glass of gin for the road. He’s pretty messed up. Don doesn’t bat an eye and lets him go. Don senses that something was up. Don tells her that she was throwing herself at him, giggling at his jokes. Don says that he doesn’t want to be treated that way in his own home. Betty asks him if he wants to bounce her off the walls.
Pete has got two chip and dips and has to return one. He can’t get cash and gets a bolt action .22 and brings it to the office. He’s being an idiot again.
The next day, Roger tells Don that he apologizes for making a pass at his wife. Roger brought a good bottle of gin for him.
It turns out that Pete just decided to return a gift he didn’t like and get the gun. He didn’t do it for his wife and she’s pissed.
Peggy brings her work by Campbell’s office. He promised her to help her out. He’s still maudlin over what happened with his wife. He goes on about hunting rabbits and cutting them up. Peggy is a little distraught afterwards. She gets herself some food.
Betty sees Helen at the grocery store. She goes on about finding a lock of Betty’s hair in Glen’s things. Betty says that she gave it to her. She slaps her after she implies something improper.
Don is having dinner with Roger. They are having a lot of oysters. Roger says that he loves redheads. Their mouths are like strawberry jam in glass of milk.
Betty is having wine in the afternoon. Francine drops by. She’s huge and preggers. She’s come to see if the rumors are true about her slapping Helen. They gossip about Helen.
Don and Roger are late for their Nixon meeting. The elevator is out and they have to take the stairs up to the 23rd floor. When Roger arrives, he pukes his guts out in front of the Nixon guys.
