If there is one thing we don’t recommend, it’s using your cell phone while you.re driving. It’s become illegal in some states. Speaking of bans, texting will soon become illegal too. It’s been reported that truck drivers who texted while driving were 23 times more likely to get into an accident than truck drivers who didn’t. Furthermore, it’s been proven that it’s incredibly distracting. You are no longer concentrating on the road. That’s one of the reasons why phones have started to become integrated into cars and Bluetooth has become so useful. Still, there was no way that you could safely text while driving until now.
It doesn’t really matter why your are doing it, but we just hope that you’ve got a good reason do to it. Maybe it’s for work, maybe there are other reasons why, but just like we said before, it’s not that safe. However, if you absolutely must text while driving, this is the way to go. ATX is the first company to offer a full handsfree text messaging system for cars. Ford Sync allows you to send pre-canned texts while driving using voice command, but ATX is really able to transcribe your messages and it is fully voice-operated, meaning that it leaves your hands free for driving. This means that it’s legal to use.
The only trouble is that ATX isn’t offering retrofits. OnStar has said that it won’t be releasing a similar product. This means that you’ll have to choose between upcoming models from Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Peugeot, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and Rolls-Royce in order to be able to get this new system. Just to let you know, one in four drivers admits to texting while driving.
