Torchwood A Day In The Death S02E08 (BBC)

Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.

From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.

Did I like this episode? Nope. I didn’t like it. It was boring. It’s too bad. Although it’s got good ratings, I find it significantly worse than any Doctor Who episodes. It will certainly get renewed for another season. I actually like the new season of Primeval a lot better than the new season of Torchwood. I can’t say it enough, Primeval rocks compared to Torchwood. Maybe I phrased this wrong. Primeval just rocks. The last episode was really good.

Since Torchwood vanquished death, Owen harper has to adjust to being a living dead. It’s not easy being dead, especially since you can’t die easily. It’s kind of like Jack, but worse since he can’t eat or feel anything anymore. Too bad.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Owen Harper died last week. Three days ago he died. He’s still dead, partially.

He’s trying to talk down a jumper. He shows her his death wound. Earlier that day, he was relieved from duty from Torchwood. Martha Jones is replacing him for now. Martha is going to examine him and perform some tests in order to make sure that he is alright.

Martha says that he won’t age and with regular exercise he will not stiffen.

Some guy has been collecting alien artefacts. They detected a recent energy spike. They are planning to investigate. He cuts his hand. Martha stitches him up. She says that he will have to stitch it up every week because the wound won’t heal. He says that he doesn’t feel anything. He didn’t need an anaesthetic.

Owen is making coffee for everyone. He decides to go home. At home, he throws out all of his food and personal hygiene products. He looks dazed and confused. Tosh comes by. She starts complaining about her life and Owen tunes her out.

Owen is telling his story to the jumper. The jumper had an accident an hour after her marriage. Her hubby died.

Owen lashes out at Tosh. Owen breaks his finger on purpose. After that, he runs away. He plunges into water. He stayed underwater for 36 minutes. Jack was watching.

Gwen is briefing the team. They need someone with no body heat to get into Parker’s place. Owen turns up at the right moment. Jack puts him back on the team. He tried to apologize to Tosh. She tells him that she turned off his TV.

Martha tries to tell Owen that he is made out of glass. Any wounds or breaks won’t heal. A bruise and he’s a goner, or so she says. He breaks into Parker’s place. He has to take out a guard. He uses his dead body to take out the generators.

Parker has got some alien artefacts in his bedroom. Parker is dying. He’s had three heart attacks and failed bypass surgery. It’s because of his artefact called the pulse. Owen says that it’s not doing anything to help him. Parker gives the pulse to Owen. Owen says that he’ll be back to help him face death. Parker dies. Owen couldn’t give him CPR because he doesn’t have any breath.

Tosh tells Owen that the energy is spiking. Owen says that he’ll try to absorb it.

Owen shows the jumper the artefact. He says that it is a reply to the messages that NASA sent out into space. It sang to Owen.

Martha leaves and plants one on Jack’s lips.
