Supernatural Good God Yall S05E02 (CW)

Supernatural tells the story of Sam and Dean, who are hunters. They hunt demons. This is because their mom was killed by a demon. This season, the boys discover more about their past. In the last season finale, Dean was sent straight to hell by Lilith. He had sold his soul to save Sam.

The plot of the series has evolved over time, beginning initially with the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, looking for their father throughout most of season one. Once they find him, the show becomes about killing Azazel, the yellow-eyed demon responsible for the death of their mother. This is accomplished, but not until after Azazel’s plans are completed and a door to Hell is opened, although only momentarily, releasing a horde of demons into the world. This event also sees the death of Sam, who is subsequently resurrected by Dean selling his soul at the end of season two. In the third season, the plot of the show focuses on trying to save Dean from his deal. Along the way, they meet a demon named Ruby, who has an interest in Sam and claims to be able to help save Dean, as well as Bela Talbot, an “acquirer” and seller of occult objects who is constantly a thorn in their side. The brothers eventually manage to track down the demon who holds Dean’s contract, a powerhouse named Lilith who also wants Sam dead. However, Sam and Ruby ultimately fail to save Dean, who is killed and sent to Hell. Season four begins with Dean, miraculously returning from Hell, awakening dazed and confused in a grave. He was apparently rescued by a supposed angel named Castiel on orders from God. Sam on the other hand, has further developed his abilities with the help of Ruby during the months that Dean has been dead. It is soon revealed that Dean was revived to help stop Lilith’s plan of breaking the 66 seals, which would let Lucifer walk free once again. As the series continues, Dean learns of Sam’s newfound ability to excercise demons using his psychic abilities. They have a heated argument, where Dean confesses to Sam: “Cas told me, if I dont stop you, he will. That means God does not want you doing what you are doing Sammy.” [From wiki]

I don’t really remember what made me stop watching this show, but a friend was extolling its virtues and I watched the fourth season premiere with her. Actually, I do remember. I really got tired of the repetitiveness of the episodes. This seems to have changed drastically since the last few seasons though. Supernatural has matured into a really good show, with its own flavor and great plots. The plot for season 4 is really good and I’m glad to see God involved.

I’ve watched and reviewed all of season 4, but I have yet to post it. If there is any interest, I will do so. There are a couple of shows which I have watched for which I haven’t posted anything yet. Those include Royal Pains and In Treatment season 2. I’m sure there are others.

Warning: spoilers ahead.

Season 5 started pretty much the same as when season 4 ended. Lilith and Ruby are dead. Sam hastened the Apocalypse and Dean couldn’t stop him. The season starter was a bit lowkey. Nothing big really happened. Oh, but then again, Lucifer is walking on Earth! It’s the End Times and Lucifer has to find a vessel. In the end of the episode he does so.

Sam has been angelically detoxed of his demon blood addiction. Things are resolved between him and Dean yet. Sam chose a demon over his brother, and Dean can’t deal with that. I thought this was a good episode. I was expecting to see Hell on Earth, but I guess that they will draw this whole thing out. It hasn’t been confirmed if this would be the last Supernatural season. There is a possibility of a sixth. My guess is that it all depends on how well this season does, which is why it was picked up for a 4th season.

The Winchesters go to see Bobby. He isn’t looking too happy with the situation. Dean got some x-rays. His bones are all inscribed with runes. Castiel calls them. Bobby wants to get healed by him, but Castiel says that he can’t. He says that he is cut off from Heaven. Castiel says that God can help fight Lucifer. Castiel says that he’s going to find God.

Castiel says that God isn’t in heaven. Dean says that he killed two angels this week for Dean. Dean and Sam failed. He lost everything because of them. He came for an amulet. Dean’s amulet. Rufus is in deep shit. He calls Bobby for help. He’s in River Pass, Colorado. The road into town is torn down. They have to hike in. The town is practically deserted. They find Ellen there. She is sequestered with a few survivors. Ellen and Jo arrived here. They were hunting together when Rufus called. Rufus can’t be found. Ellen and Jo got separated. Dean doesn’t want Sam to go out there, but he does anyway. Sam goes to get the salt, and two demons walk into the store. He hasn’t got his gun in his hands. He’s got to take them out with a knife. There is demon blood everywhere. It looks like Sam was tempted to drink it, or he was freaked out by the blood. Dean walks in. He sees Sam’s attitude.

Meanwhile, Dean goes to get some weapons. The plan is to arm the survivors and make a break for it. Ellen is pessimistic about this, because they’ve already tried this and lost a bunch of people.

They come back with supplies. Ellen wants to go look for Jo. Sam wants to go with her. Dean doesn’t like it, but he goes anyway. They find demon HQ, as well as Jo, who’s been possessed. Ellen gets away when Sam gets knocked out by Rufus. Jo and Rufus pour salt on him as well as holy water. It’s like the demons are convinced that Sam is a demon.

Ellen says that Rufus called her a black-eyed bitch. They are immune to holy water and salt. Rufus came to town because of water. The priest says that the river was polluted in a day. There was a big shooting star that same night. Dean knows this from the Bible, Revelations 8:10. These omens are the prelude to the Four Horsemen. Dean thinks that the red horse is the red Mustang in the street. Dean thinks that there are no demons at all, maybe just War toying with them.

Sam meets War, he popped into one of the survivors to watch. There aren’t any demons in town. He says that Sam keeps thinking about demon blood. Roger gets up and pretends that Sam beat him up.

Roger comes back to Dean’s group to spread the panic. He makes the survivors think that Ellen and Dean are demons. They start shooting. Rufus is wiring up some pipe bombs to the windows. The survivors start to leave. One of Rufus’s booby traps is activated. Dean takes Rufus and Ellen takes Jo. Dean tells him that War is here. They both stop hallucinating.

The survivors start firing upon the house. Sam tells Dean that it’s the ring that War is wearing. Sam and Dean corner him and cut off his ringfinger. The people in the town stop hallucinating just in time. War is gone.

Sam and Dean talk about what has happened. Sam says that he needs to step back from hunting. He’s in no shape for this. Sam thinks that they should go their separate ways. Dean thinks that he is right.
