Rizzoli & Isles Boston Strangler Redux S01E02 (TNT)

Rizzoli & Isles header

I didn’t expect much of this show, but the first episode was intriguing. All in all, it’s a basic police procedural drama, with a woman acting as a lead detective. It’s not something that hasn’t been done before and by no means is it as compelling as The Closer, but it’s not bad. What makes this show worth watching is Sasha Alexander, who plays the Medical Examiner. It’s too bad that they lifter her character right out from Bones. Dr. Isles has got similar traits as Dr. Temperance Brennan played by Emily Deschanel.

For some reason, Maura is wearing a wet suit to a softball game. A body gets dumped from an overpass. The DB is a woman who’s been strangled. Marky Mark’s brother Donnie is playing a cop in narcotics. Walhberg is playing Joey, the new LT.

Jane comes home and finds her whole family waiting for her in her apartment. Her mom wants Jane to point out to Frankie that he needs to work for their dad and take over the business. Jane leaves on a call.

They find another strangling victim. The victims have the same name as the Boston Strangler. Corsac says that the real Boston Strangler is back. Some cops never believed that the man they caught was the wrong one. Jane takes this to the LT, who has trouble believing her. It could be a copycat.

Isles is on a date with the dude from the park. She diagnoses him with Marfan syndrome. This is a genetic disorder. He leaves.

Jane and Corsac go through the original files. They smuggle out some evidence to show Isles. They find one of the cops on the case. He doesn’t tell them much.

The old cop comes to see Rizzoli with his files. The LT is pissed at Rizzoli. He blames her from leaking the info to the press. She mouths off and gets a second strike. The files lead them to Redman Jones. They take Leahy with them for some reason.

Frankie’s photos lead them to some Boston Strangler fanatic. They arrest him, but he’s just a death enthusiast.

They find another body. They might have caught a break with the fabric that was used to strangle her. They find the car that Red said was stolen. The blood in the car leads them to Redman Jones.

The LT takes away Jane’s case. He has a task force working on it. They will take the credit. The LT is an ass. It’s strange to see Marky Mark playing someone annoying for once.

Jane thinks that the evidence could have been planted, or something like that. Jane has a hunch. She checks up on Leahy. His alibi didn’t check out. He didn’t go for dialysis.

Leahy is exhibiting signs of renal failure and Isles notices. He pulls a gun on Isles. Jane arrives. They disarm him and arrest him.

The LT comes to apologize. Maura keeps diagnosing people she meets.
