I didn’t expect much of this show, but the first episode was intriguing. All in all, it’s a basic police procedural drama, with a woman acting as a lead detective. It’s not something that hasn’t been done before and by no means is it as compelling as The Closer, but it’s not bad. What makes this show worth watching is Sasha Alexander, who plays the Medical Examiner. It’s too bad that they lifter her character right out from Bones. Dr. Isles has got similar traits as Dr. Temperance Brennan played by Emily Deschanel.

Rizzoli is played by Angie Harmon and she’s called on a disturbing new case. It’s a copycat case that put Jane in the hospital. The initial serial killer is Hoyt and his nickname is the Surgeon. He trained an apprentice, whose mimicking his MO. The wife of the vic has gone missing and the feds have sent an observer.
Rizzoli goes to see Hoyt. He pinned her to the ground using scalpels through her hands. Hoyt doesn’t give much up.
They found the wife. She’s been postured. Dean, the FBI observer arrives at the scene. He asks Isles to do a wet prep. They find some freshly deposited sperm on her body. Dean knew that there would be evidence of necrophilia.
Hoyt escapes custody. Frankie, Jane’s brother, and Frost, her partner, are worried and want to stay over, but she kicks them out. Her neighbour pops in. A few moments later, her mom arrives. She says that her father is downstairs with Frankie. Jane decides to leave. She goes to see Isles.
Isles has got a giant tortoise named Bass.
They find another vic. Rizzoli receives some flowers from Hoyt and some alias. They find the wife’s body. Rizzoli wants to use the body as bait. Isles won’t do this but Rizzoli convinces her. They won’t discover much new evidence on this body.
During the stakeout, Rizzoli spots Hoyt running through the forest. She tackles one of the suspects and finds that it’s Dean. She finds her old partner Corsac sliced up.
Maura told Dean where Rizzoli was. Rizzoli isn’t happy. Dean comes to see Rizzoli later. He offers to stay. She says no.
Maura tells Jane that she needs to leave to Quantico. She’s been ordered not to tell Jane about the case. The case is much bigger than they though. Rizzoli goes to see Dean. He introduces her to a senator. It turns out that the apprentice is a soldier, who trained his serial killing arts in Kabul, Afghanistan. The soldier is a green beret working for the CIA, who was sheep dipping. Their IDs were wiped from all databases so that they aren’t recognized as American soldiers.
Hoyt trained at an Army medical facility. He must have met the soldier there. Mara calls. Her apartment was ransacked. The apprentice is SF officer John Stark. They abduct her from the scene. She gets a flare from a kit and tasers the shit out of Hoyt. Stark arrives. She is able to use a partial charge of the taser and shoots Stark twice in the chest. When Hoyt makes a move for the gun, she shoots him through the hands.
