I’ve never been a Stargate fan. I’ve tried watching SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, but never really found them compelling enough. I actually like the original movie with Kurt Russell, but the series never really interested me that much. One of my friends recently bought all of the seasons cheaply. I thought about watching them, but ran out of time. Scalzi is a creative consultant on this series and it looks pretty interesting, so I’ve decided to give it a go.
Now, before any bitching and hating starts― too late, it’s already started, I haven’t bothered to read, review, or watch any of the Stargate series, and I’m not going to. I’ve watched a couple of episodes and didn’t continue. I tried Stargate Atlantis, but didn’t like it. My friend told me that starting season 4, SG-1 was really good. I can’t really comment on that as I stopped watching the series after a few episodes.
Basically, I’m a new viewer of Stargate, but I’m not a science-fiction novice. It puts me in an interesting spot about reviewing this show. My point of view is from someone who hasn’t watched any of the SG shows, so this review and recap should be interesting to those of you who haven’t watched SG before. For the others, leave some comments and start a discussion.
Is the show good or bad? Read on to find out more.

A sort of filler episode on the people that were left behind on the mysterious planet. TJ still believes that her daughter is there, which she isn’t, of course.

The Destiny comes out of FTL. There is as shuttle waiting for them. Kane starts talking to them. They left him back in another galaxy. Kane is with all of the others. They went to sleep and woke up here. The aliens just threw them across the galaxies. Rush suggests that they should invite them on board and should take every precaution. They dock. TJ was expecting her baby. They didn’t bring any babies with them.
Eli thinks that they are losing Chloe. There’s nothing they can do to stop it.
Young has put the visitors in a holding cell. They also don’t remember much. Young tells TJ that they give him the creeps. TJ also has a strange feeling about them.
Chloe is talking to a Kino. She is recording goodbyes. When she starts, she spaces out. The new arrivals pass the physical. Rush has no choice but to release them. They are up to something.
It looks like Greer is hooking up with Park. Kane is delusional. He thinks that God is responsible for everything that happened on the planet. He called the planet Eden.
Wray questions the visitors. Their memories have been tampered with. She thinks that the aliens didn’t want them to remember something.
Greer tells Scott to be careful with Chloe. She’s turning into the enemy.
Eli asks one of the visitors about what she saw on the planet. He mentions the obelisk and she starts bleeding form the face. She bleeds form the nose, eyes, and pretty much everywhere. She dies. Her injuries are from some incident on the planet, BFT.
It looks like Kane is trying to convert part of the crew. Wray tells them that she wants to use hypnosis to see what she can discover. She starts with Peter. He remembers bits and pieces of what happened. He was chopping wood and the tree fell on Val. She died on the planet months ago. He has a seizure and dies. He died of extreme exposure. TJ thinks that they are all dying again. They find Rachel covered with boils. She also dies quickly. Kane is watching this.
Greer goes to see Chloe. When she has completely changed, Young will see her as a threat. Most likely, Greer will have to shoot her. He has come to ask for her forgiveness. Then he says goodbye.
Kane is next to spend time with Wray. He remembers snow falling. They went into the shuttle for shelter. It has gotten very cold. The shuttle has no power. He remembers Peter leaving and dying of exposure. The night before, they all died. Kane is left alone. He wakes up in the shuttle. He expects to die soon. He remembers that he’s already dead.
Matt comes to see Chloe. She tells him to leave.
James finds a Kino in the shuttle. She gives it to Eli. TJ tells Kane that they all died in their sleep of exposure. They are just echoes of the real people who were left behind.
The Kino holds a record of what happened. They see Kane asking for help and then there’s a big light that comes.
