Doctor Who The Almost People S06E06 (BBC)

The new Doctor Who: Matt Smith

Doctor Who is a long-running, award-winning British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police phone box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems and righting wrongs.

The show’s lead character is currently portrayed by David Tennant. A Christmas special co-starring Kylie Minogue aired in December 2007, and the fourth series started on 5 April 2008. For that series, Catherine Tate will reprise her role of Donna Noble, from the 2006 Christmas special, as the Doctor’s latest companion. Midway through the series, Freema Agyeman will also return to her role of Martha Jones, following a multi-episode guest appearance in the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood. John Barrowman will continue his role as Captain Jack Harkness, and Billie Piper will return as Rose Tyler for three episodes. Elisabeth Sladen is also set to return as Sarah Jane Smith in a cameo role.

After a 2008 Christmas special and three further specials starring David Tennant, scheduled to air in 2009, Doctor Who is planned to return in 2010 for a fifth full length series.

The Doctor working a smartphone

The Doctor is a long lived alien from the planet Gallifrey. He’s a Time Lord and travels through time thanks to his aging time capsule the Tardis. David Tennant is the tenth Doctor. My favorite has always been Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor. The Doctor periodically regenerates. When he does so, he changes outward appearance which let the producers change actors easily. All Time Lords regenerate 13 times. The Doctor’s nemesis is the Master, a renegade Time Lord who found a way around this limit. Other enemies include the Black Guardian, the Daleks and the Cybermen.

During the previous serials, before 2005, Gallifrey was alive and well. It appears that for the new series, the Doctor is the only survivor of the last great Time War between the Dalek Empire and the Time Lords.

This is the first of a series of specials that will air this year. Since David Tennant couldn’t commit to a full series this year, due to some previous acting commitments, we are left with a bunch of specials.

After two disappointing specials, we come to the end of David Tennant’s Doctor. Tennant has rapidly become a favorite of mine. I still love Tom Baker above all, but Tennant is very good. What is it about him? I’d say that David Tennant was almost perfect for the role. It’s too bad that he’s moving on. Already, the 5th season has been delayed until later this year because he couldn’t commit to a full serial.

It’s sad because he was so good. However, it’s good that Tennant is going out with a bang. The ending of part one of the End of Time was amazing. The Master, the Doctor, and the Time Lords, all reunited at last for one final confrontation.

I didn’t really like how the tenth Doctor died, but others will say that it is within his nature to be like that, to sacrifice himself for anyone. He did so. The end is nigh as he says goodbye to all of his companions, from Rose to Sarah Jane.

The new Doctor is nutty. Nutty enough to be the Doctor, if that makes any sense. I don’t know much about Matt Smith, and I usually keep an embargo on myself about upcoming Doctor Who episodes so that the fun isn’t spoiled, and frankly, I was surprised. It was a good show, not extremely good, but good nonetheless. I have to say that I did really like David Tennant as the Doctor. His shoes are going to be hard to fill. Naturally, Tom Baker remains as my favorite Doctor of all time.

This was an incredible way of ending this storyline. There are quite a few open-ended questions that I hope will be answered. We finally have seen the Silence and what they do. The Doctor was able to rid Earth of them, but this is something that’s on-going. Who is the little girl? She’s obviously got Time Lord blood since she can regenerate, and she’s quite strong. Naturally, she must be the Doctor’s child, but who’s the mother, Amy Pond or River Song? Amy was pregnant when the story arc started, she no longer is pregnant and the Silence have been caring for a child for years. The Space Suit in which the child resides will end up killing the Doctor.

There were a lot of questions, but the Silence are definitely quite creepy. There’s nothing like forgetting that a monster is behind you while you turn around. However, the whole thing about the “Silence Will Fall” story arc has a dual meaning now, since it could simply mean that the Silence, as a race, will fall and disappear. this is the exact opposite of what was implied during the last season, but it’s nice to see them return to this intrigue. I’ve always thought that Silence Will Fall meant that the universe would end and/or all life would be extinguished.

Well, we finally know the reason why Pond has been seeing the Eye Patch Lady and why exactly the Doctor went to see the Flesh. He scanned it in detail so that he could block the signal between Amy and the Flesh. The Amy that’s been with the Doctor since the series 6 started has been a doppelganger all along. Now, where is the real Amy? One thing’s for sure. She’s preggers and giving birth, and the Eye Patch Lady is watching her.

Yes, it’s insane and it’s going to get insane-rer. Is that a word?
The Doctor

The Doctor ganger is freaking out. The Doctor is getting along fine and dandy with his ganger. Amy can tell them apart from their shoes. The real Doctor’s shoes melted in acid. The gangers are trying to get into the chapel. They escape through a ventilation shaft.

Rory is still following Jenny’s ganger.

The acid is interacting with the stone to create some kind of choking gas. They escape to some power tower. Apparently there are 10 million gangers in India. Cleaves just wants to live in peace, but the Jenny ganger stirs them up to fight.

-Nah, she’s a tough old thing.
-Tough old sexy.
-Tough old dependable sexy.
The Doctors about the TARDIS

We both wear the same bowtie, which is cool.
Because bowties are.
And always will be.
The Doctors to Amy

Yes, communication a go-go!
The Doctor

Cleaves talks with the military. She wants them to come in, evac them, and destroy he gangers.

While the Doctors are working, Amy sees the Eye Patch Lady again, opening a window. She tells them what she keeps seeing. He says that it’s a time memory. The other Doctor says that it’s in his head and walks off. She goes after him and tells him that she saw the real Doctor die because he invited her. He grabs her and asks why. Then she runs off. The Flesh Doctor thinks that he can connect with the rest of the Flesh. It wants revenge.

Rory finds both Jennys. He is able to tell the difference. The Jennys start fighting. The ganger falls into acid and dissolves. They see Rory and Jenny going to the thermostatic chamber. The real Doctor asks Amy to trust his ganger. He wants to go find the Doctor.

The whole thing with the ganger Jenny was just a ploy to get Rory to open some control panel for her, which sensed her non-human DNA and didn’t let the Jenny ganger operate it earlier. It stops the cooling vents. There is a million gallons of acid getting ready to boil over. Cleaves is sick.

Rory and the Jenny ganger find some disposed Flesh. They are still conscious.

The Doctor ganger finds the real Jenny. She just died. Rory is in trouble. Buzzer knocks the Doctor ganger out. He did it because the boss ordered him to. He finds the Jenny ganger who’s comforting the discarded gangers. She kills Buzzer.

The Doctor, Pond, and the others come near by a wall covered in ganger eyes. They are too late. The factory is going to blow. They run into Rory, who says that they found a way out. Rory is helping the gangers. They lock the real people in the containment room. In the last episode, the Doctor made some delayed phone call.

When he is with Rory, the Doctor says ring ring. A few moments later, a phone rings. There is some kind of holographic phone call with Jimmy’s ganger. Jimmy’s ganger runs off to save Jimmy. He’s too late. Jimmy got sprayed with acid. He’s dying. He wants his ganger to be a dad to his son. The ganger goes back to talk to his son. The Jenny ganger has changed into some creature. It’s coming for them. Another ganger sacrifices himself to save the others. The TARDIS falls through the ceiling. The Doctor tells Amy that they switched shoes to trick people. They wanted to see if they were treated differently. The Flesh Doctor tells Amy to push, but only when she tells her to. The Flesh Doctor and Cleaves² stay behind to keep the door closed. The TARDIS dematerializes. The Flesh Doctor and Cleaves² stay behind to destroy the Jenny ganger. They dissolve right after. The energy from the TARDIS stabilized the gangers. The Doc cures Cleaves’ clot. The Doc leaves them near at the company’s HQ to stop them from using the Flesh.

The Doctor tells Pond to breathe, and she does. Then she doubles over in pain. The Doc says that he went there to scan the Flesh first. He wanted to drop them off. He wanted information to block the signal to the Flesh to Amy. He tells Rory to stand away from her. He tells her that they will find her. He points the sonic screwdriver at her and Amy dissolves. She was Flesh.

Amy wakes up in some white crèche. The Eye Patch Lady opens a window and tells her that she’s ready to go. The little one is on its way. Amy is preggers and about to give birth. The Eye Patch Lady says to push. Amy screams.

And now, the Doctor knows about his impending death from the Pond ganger. She thought that he was a ganger, which is why she told him.
