Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.
From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.
I’ve been busy watching the Tour de France and also playing Dragon Age II, so I haven’t had much time to watch shows, but at least I’m making time for Torchwood. It’s been a while since the last series, and I was wondering if Torchwood would be back. They had also killed off most of the team, so you always wondered in what form they’d be back. The new American additions to Torchwood aren’t that impressive. They are actually quite annoying, but the whole premise of Miracle Day is somewhat tantalizing. I’ve watched 3 episodes, and we still have to find out what exactly is going on.
The first three episodes were pretty good in my opinion. I watched them all in one go, so it’s safe to assume that the story is good. The whole collaboration with an American TV channel is somewhat strange, but it makes for an interesting setting since they spend a good amount of time in the US.
On Miracle Day, everyone stops dying. They don’t have eternal youth, but just continue on living, even when they are dismembered. Currently, an analyst and an operative from the CIA have recruited Jack and Gwen to investigate. In the midst of it all, they come across a strange conspiracy, involving PhiCorp, a big pharmaceutical company, who knew about Miracle Day before it would happen.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Some guy named Stewart Owens at PhiCorp is looking into PhiCorp. He has a contact in Shanghai look up a property that PhiCorp purchased there in the 1990s. When he calls back, the contact says that he found nothing. He jumps off a very high building.
There’s now something called the ’45 Club’, people trying to get as close to what was before suicide as possible. They think that jumping off the 45th floor and higher will lead them to total unconsciousness.
The module was storage but they were designed to kill. Maloney puts his facility in lockdown and has his aide dump Vera’s car.
Jack approaches Janet, Stewart’s PA. After he gets what he wants, he goes to see Stewart. He’s the COO of PhiCorp. He says that he’s only the middle man. He also wants to find out what is going on. He says that PhiCorp isn’t behind this. Someone else is. Someone is playing the system. They have been at it for a very long time. He asks him about the geography behind the Miracle. Owens says that it’s tied to something called the Blessing.
“They have found the Blessing”

Rex gets captured. Maloney questions him. Rex is an idiot and tells Maloney everything. Maloney plunges his pen into Rex’s open wound. He wants him to become a cat 1. Esther comes looking for Rex. Maloney goes for her. Esther is feisty. She strangles him. When she goes for the keys, Maloney strangles her. She’s saved by the aide who shoots Maloney.
Gwen and Rhys get her dad out of the Wales overflow camp. She contacts Jack using her contact lenses. She wants him to record something for her. She gets some explosives and gets ready to blow a module to Kingdom Come.
The story is out about the death camps. They aren’t shutting them down.
Gwen comes back to LA. She can’t reach Rhys upon her landing. She gets a courtesy call. It only says lenses. She puts on her I-5s. It says that they have her mother, husband, and child in custody. They want Jack.
