It always annoys me when I’m stuck outside with my laptop trying to find a Wi-Fi network. Luckily where I am here in Taipei, there’s city-wide free Wi-Fi, so that’s never been a problem. It looks like it probably isn’t a problem in Japan either, because Asahi’s vending machines will now act as free Wi-Fi hotspots, where people can use the web without having to register or log in.

Ah well, that’s not the case in Asia. Most places, like Taiwan, Singapore and Japan don’t allow you to drink or eat anything on subways and buses. Unlike in America, they actually enforce this and will ticket you if they catch you. This even applies to gum.
