Preschool Buxiban Abuse

Since all of the teachers are busy making costumes for the kids, the main abuser at my school found some interesting ways of dealing with 5 year old trouble makers.
First she started by using duct tape. Duct tape you ask? Yes, duct tape. She taped the duct tape onto their little hands and pulled it back roughly. The other strategy involved putting the take on their little mouths and pulling it back. It must hurt badly. The kids cry out in pain and the abuser relishes this.

I’ve given notice at my jobs that I will be leaving in the second week of January last week. Things have started to get awkward. I haven’t really disclosed anything to the staff. I’m letting the boss take care of that.

I guess that I’ve changed my mind about Kid Nation. I don’t think it’s that bad, but it’s not something I would let my kid do. That’s irrelevant since I don’t have any kids. Basically it’s just like some form of summer camp activity with cameras. It’s not revolutionary or incredible. It’s still interesting to see the kids interact.
Fever Dreams Of Corporal Punishment

I’ve been stuck with a fever for the last few days. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s something you expect when you work this closely with little kids. The worst is actually when I get home and relax. The fever really hits me at around 9PM and knocks me out. I’d like to be bedridden, but I have to work. Luckily, I won’t be tutoring tomorrow and I’ll have a weekend to get my strength up again. Hopefully by Monday things will be better.
I find it hard to sleep when I have a fever. It’s never restful. Thankfully I was able to get a lot of rest last night. Right now, I’m typing from under a duvet and starting a good sweat. I’m drinking lots of fluids and using Ibuprofen to keep the fever down.
Tim Again

Tim was looking pretty happy today. He kept saying
I like you…
Replace the three little dots with my name. He’s a really good kid, but he sometimes spaces out and doesn’t pay attention. He’s a bit of a clown and likes to make other kids laugh, which doesn’t sit well with his Taiwanese teacher.

Bad Love,
Bad Love,
Don’t give me the Bad Love!
The Bad Love chant
What is Bad Love?
Bad Love is the title of a novel by Jonathan Kellerman, a child psychologist. It’s in the Alex Delaware series of mystery novels. It was published in 1994.

Cindy’s left cheek sported a blue green and yellow bruise.
I arrived in advance of my usual Wednesday afternoon class to get organized.
I started getting the kids ready for their spelling quiz when I saw Cindy’s face. First I didn’t understand what was wrong with her. When she came to the white board to write one of the spelling words I asked her what happened to her face.

Cover of the original UK version of this book.
I’ve been thinking about two books this week and I thought I would share these. The first novel is Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I’ve been thinking about reading it again. It’s most appropriate considering the strange forms of abuse that I have been seeing, both on television in Kid Nation and in real life in my classrooms.

The child exploitation show on CBS continues. This time the kids are surprised that there will be an election. Even more surprising is the fact that Greg from the blue district doesn’t want to run. He probably has seen that more power can be wielded from behind the scenes, or he just doesn’t want to be in charge. People who are in charge get blamed for a lot of things.
