Smart Ebike: German Car Company Outs Its First Electric Bike

There are plenty of electric bikes these days, but from time to time, one comes along that sets itself apart, like this one from Germany’s Smart. Smart is best known for their ultra compact city cars, but I’m impressed with this e-bike too.

Musguard Rollable Bike Fender: Never Get Splashed Again!

Most of the time, you don’t need a bicycle fender except the few times that it rains when you’re out and about. We all know that when it starts to pour, your wheel will send lots of dirty water all over your rear end, which can get really annoying.

Yes, you read that right. A maniacal Frenchman piloted a home-made rocket-powered bicycle to what he claims was a speed of 163 mph. On a bicycle. Holy crap!

iBikeConsole BikeCharge Dynamo Charges Your Gear While Your Ride Your Bike

Bicycle lights generally use battery or solar-powered LEDs these days, not bike dynamos like in the 1980s. That doesn’t mean that these types of tiny power stations aren’t still useful. I’ve seen a couple of different ones allowing you to charge up your devices simply by pedaling a bit more. The BikeCharge will take this to a new level since it generates more current and is lighter than other models.

BMW i Pedelec Electric Bike: Stash It in Your Prius and You’re Ready to Go

I’ve never been a fan of electric bikes, but I can see a use for them, especially for people who need the extra help to get a move on. Most electric bikes are also a bit bulky, making them less than convenient for everyday use. That said, BMW just released a new concept for a foldable electric bike, that you’ll be able to stash almost anywhere.

Mariclaro Upcycled Bags: Made from Airbags, Car Upholstery and Other Weird Stuff

I never thought about reusing a spent airbag for much of anything, but it does make sense to upcycle this kind of durable material if you can. Toronto-based Mariclaro makes them all into backpacks and carryalls that are quite different from others that I’ve seen.
