3.81 KM + 6.16 KM Treadmill Runs

This week is the first week that I’ve had access to a gym in a long time. I hadn’t used a treadmill in a very long time as well, and it was a welcome change from running on the streets. Although I still prefer going outside for runs, having access to a full-on spa makes a very big difference in terms of recovery.

2.8 KM Treadmill Run

A co-worker invited me to his gym and I decided to accept. I started my workout with a 2.8 km run that I completed in 20:55. My pace was 7:28/km, which is fine for my first run in months. It felt a bit strange running on a treadmill. The last time I had used a treadmill was a couple of years ago. I’ve been running outside for a while. Treadmills are a nice change of pace because you can set your speed and do some splits, accelerate, decelerate quickly.

Instagram & My 4 KM Night Run

The bridge to infinity

I came home at about 22:30 and on the ride, I wondered what I’d do. When I came home, I decided that I would skip working late and go out for a run. Once I was out, I immediately felt last night’s run in my legs. That’s to be expected. It also was harder than before, and took more effort to keep going. I was hoping to improve my slow pace from yesterday, but I managed to run the same distance in almost exactly the same time. I ran 4 km in 33:31. My average pace was 8:10min/km. Highest BPM was 193 and my average was 157.

4 KM Night Run

Well, a couple of girls inspired me to go out to run tonight. It’s been a while since my last run, and I needed to start up again. At least I didn’t gain much weight since I had stopped. A friend had suggested an alternate route to my usual run, so I took that. It was nice and quiet, as well as windy. The run was fine, but I was slow. I ran 4km in 32:59. I needed more than one break but at least I got out there and started to run again. I weighed in at 85kg, looking for 78kg in a couple of weeks.

Powerbreather Sealed Snorkel Optimizes Swimming

This device might look a bit odd, but I wonder why no one created it before now. It basically allows swimmers to stay completely submerged during their laps, which is pretty cool. With the Powerbreather, you don’t strain your neck or come up for air at all.

5.42 KM (1.5 KM Speed Walk) + Short Run (3.92 KM)

Well I finally started running again, and it didn’t feel too bad. I started late as usual with a speed walk with Spike in tow. The poor little Frenchie can’t really do much running, but a quick speed walk is right up his alley. He also needs to lose a bit of weight.

Nike+ FuelBand: A Jawbone UP That Actually Works?

I was pretty happy that I held off purchasing a Jawbone UP wristband because users have reported massive failures. Since then, Jawbone has had to offer full refunds to anyone who made a claim. The Nike FuelBand reminds me of the UP, but unlike the UP it might actually work. Plus, it looks much cooler.

4.74 KM (1.32 KM Speed Walk) + Short Run (3.42 KM)

My knee has been bothering me since NYE, so I took it easy last week after my run. I felt like running, but my knee just didn’t feel up to it. I spent most of the week with it wrapped up. Thankfully, it’s hurting a lot less and feeling less sore. It wasn’t really hurting much, but it was constant. This is basically why I stopped running in 2009. The same knee was acting up.

5.85 KM (1.76 KM Speed Walk) + Short Run (4.09 KM)

I didn’t really feel it last night, so I just went for a 2.5km speed walk with Spike and then turned in. Tonight, I didn’t feel it either, but I still went out to run. My pace is somewhat disappointing, at 8:02 min/km, down from 7:14 min/km from last week, but ultimately, I just was happy that I was able to finish the run. I knew I was slower than before, but I noticed that my right knee was aching slightly.

6.03 KM (1.89 KM Speed Walk) + Short Run (4.14 KM)

I was somewhat tired during the day because I had gotten just about 4 hours of sleep last night. A power nap and an espresso sorted me out for the rest of the day. When it came down to run, I decided that I needed to run a bit longer and further than previously, which I did.
