2012 Pinarello Dogma 2 Frameset & Complete Bikes

2012 Pinarello Dogma 2

During this year’s Tour de France, we got our first glimpses of Pinarello’s new Dogma 2. It’s stiffer, more aerodynamic, and lighter. Pinarello examined how riders used the Dogma and improved on it. The top tube of the Dogma 2 is slightly off center to the right, allowing the rider more balance. The aerodnyamics and stiffness of the front end were improved. It’s 19% stiffer, so it will allow you to brake more precisely. The sculpted crown integrates seamlessly into the re-shaped down tube.

2011 Colnago C150 Unification

Colnago C150 Unification

New photos of the Colnago C150 have surfaced. It’s a pretty frame. To be honest, to commemorate the Italian Unification, I would have opted for Campagnolo’s new electronic shifting group. Granted, only a few teams in the pro peloton have it, but it could have made it pretty exclusive.

2011 Cyfac Model Range Available @ Asterisk*Cycles

Cyfac Absolu

Asterisk*Cycles now has the full range of Cyfac bicycles, from custom models to standard ones. Check out their whole range here. The Cyfac Absolu is particularly interesting. It is handmade in France and is of monocoque design, not lugged like the TIME and Colnago top end frames. Pez had a really good write-up on it. I’ve actually ordered myself a frameset as well, a 55cm Absolu that will be in my hands shortly.

2011 Wilier 799

2011 Wilier 799

Wilier has unveiled a new frame at the Taipei Cycle Show. It’s called the 799 and supposedly weighs 750g for a size M. There is a new BB, which is annoying from my point of view, but apparently it’s exclusive to Wilier. It’s 35% more impact resistant and improves vibration absorption by 12%. These numbers were attained by using a film that was placed between the fibers.

2011 Colnago C590 150 Italia

Colnago C59 150 Italia

The Colnago C59 150 Italia is a special edition frameset that will be available at the end of the year. What makes it special is that it commemorates Italy’s unification and that it completely integrates the Shimano Dura Ace Di2 electronic group. This includes integrating the battery into the frameset. While prices have been reported as being as high as €15,000 for this frameset, I’m actually looking forward to see if they’ll offer this type of technology for their next Di2 framesets.

Close up of the downtube

The 2011 Colnago C59 Italia is a bit of an understated frame, but it definitely a great ride if you’re looking for stiffness and comfort. You could almost call it a sleeper, since it does use similar technology as the EPS and other Colnago models. As with the EPS, the C59 is handmade in Italy. None of the process has been outsourced to Asia. The C59 comes in a Di2 model for cyclists looking to install Shimano Dura Ace Di2.

SRAM Red-equipped C59s start out at around $6,100 USD, Campy Super Record 11 C59s start at around $7,000 USD. We’ve got access to the complete product lines of most of the component makers out there, so you can fit your C59 out anyway you want, from ultra-light carbon bits from AX-Lightness, to more traditional companies.

Send us an email at asteriskcycles at gmail dot com to order your Colnago C59.

2011 TIME RXR-S Ulteam

2011 TIME RXR-S Ulteam

The 2011 TIME RXR-S have started to trickle in. We are receiving the Di2 models as well. They are a month or so late, but they are well worth the wait. These bikes come with a full warranty from TIME USA, and in case of the RXR-S, it’s a lifetime warranty. The 2011 model has got BB30 and an upgraded front end, that will suppress any high speed wobbling.
