English Accents As Viewed By Young Taiwanese ESL Learners

-So which teachers are Canadian? asks Student A.
-T. Range, T. K, and T. R., answers Student E.
-How about T. Br?
-He’s American, as is T. J., I interject.
-How about T. Be?
-He’s from England.
-What’s the difference between them all?
-It’s the way that they all say “out”. Canadians will say it this way. The English say it this way and Americans say it this way.
(Student E demonstrates to Student A, quite hilariously while I listen in. This whole conversation took place in Mandarin.)

LockStar GPS Tracker Watches: The Spy Who Watched Me

OK, so maybe you shouldn’t use a GPS tracker watch to spy on your loved ones, but you’ll be able to make sure that your little ones or older relatives are safe and sound. LockStar GPS watches are designed for families caring for children, the elderly, or anyone who you need to keep tabs on, ensuring that they will be found if lost.

STM Grip iPad Case: Colorful Kickstands for Adults & Kids

iPad cases comes in all shapes, sizes and colors, but there are only a few that work well if you have rambunctious kids wanting to play with them. While I’m all for having specifically kid-like cases for iPads, when you take it out of your home to work, it does look a bit strange (imagine taking the iGuy to the office!).

Vinci Tab II: The Tablet You Won’t Mind Toddlers Playing With

I’m no longer surprised to see toddlers playing with iPads and iPhones, but I have to say that I’d rather have them playing with something that’s actually made for them, kind of like the Vinci Tab II tablet.

Study Finds Goats Adjust Their Vocalizations to Surroundings

pygmy-goat-kids

The sounds that animals make are determined by their genes, but a new study published in the journal in Animal Behaviour shows that pygmy goats (Capra aegagrus hircus) can develop regional accents as they grow older. They join humans, bats, whales, songbirds and elephants, who all listen and learn vocal cues from their surroundings.

Zub Zibi Zirc Watch: A Nooka Watch Not Just for Guys

Nooka definitely make some cool digital watches. They combine design with a sort of minimalistic appeal. This new one, the Zub Zibi Zirc, fits snug and has an very simple profile. I think from its looks, it’s intended to appeal to a different customer than their other watches, which have a tendency to be fairly masculine in style.

You can avoid it as long as you like, but you know that kids love iPads and iPhones. This new case is the Speck iPad Guy and it will only serve to further encourage your little ones play with your iPad.

Karuma PlayBase: Tablet for Toddlers?

While I’ve seen plenty of toddlers playing with iPhones and iPads, since they aren’t completely smash-proof, you might want to think about giving your little terror a PlayBase from Karuma instead. This is supposed to be an affordable tablet that’s made for younger children. It’s perfect when you don’t want to hand over your iPad 2 and risk having its glass screen shattered or aluminum back dented.

i-Wood Chalkboard Wooden “Laptop”: Fun Way to Surf with Your Toddler

The i-Wood looks like a great way to surf with your toddler. The wooden chalkboard is shaped like a laptop, perfect to let your kid emulate his or her parents, each typing away on their respective laptops. Sounds cool, but I already know quite a few toddlers who use iPhones and iPads. Still it’s a nice-looking, portable chalkboard for those time you don’t want kids getting their fingerprints all over your iDevice.
