Heroes Ink S04E03 (NBC)

Heroes was one of the few runaway hits of the last few years. It’s extremely popular and has a large fanbase, transcending the comic book genre on which it is based. The plot revolves around the so-called Heroes trying to save the world from destruction. Their lives become intertwined as they struggle. Some characters are able to travel to the past and into the future, changing the stories as they unfold.

Volume 3 and Volume 4 were really bad. I hate to say this, but I think that this show is close to being canceled. I can’t see it being renewed for another season, unless it improves dramatically in this season.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The Mentalist Redemption S02E01 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Prison Break Season 4 Episodes 2 to 16

Prison Break season 4 intertitle via Wikipedia

If I had to choose between Prison Break and Heroes, hands down Prison Break would win. The most recent season of Heroes is frightfully bad. I just hope that Volume 4: Fugitives will be better than Volume 3: Villains.

Back to Prison Break.

It’s quite exceptional that the show has been able to continue producing twisted storylines of the prisoners. There are quite a few developments, including the reappearance of Sara Tancredi, when she was supposed to be dead, and the return of Susan/Gretchen, even though she was supposed to be dead. We see here a reoccurring motif.

It’s needless to say that most of the fourth season was spent chasing after Scylla, the Company’s black book. We finally learn more about Scylla. It contains more than names, it comes a roadmap of technology that will enable to the Company to harness completely the solar energy of the sun.

The first part of the season is spent trying to get Scylla away from the Company. The crew is successful, but ends up being double crossed by Agent Self, their handler from the DHS. Self is an amateur at best. How he was able to orchestrate this is surprising. Even Gretchen is surprised.

Most of the action takes place in the fictional African country Sangala. Jack Bauer is mixed up in a military coup when he tries to rescue some kids. He’s been trying to find peace from his demons, but his past always comes to haunt him. In the US, President Daniels is about to step down.
