This isn’t the Ambassador hotel in Hsinchu Taiwan, but the new tower of Sauron! Look at how evil it looks! Taken with a Nikon D200 and a 18-35mm Nikkor lens. Part of the Ambassador Series 1.
I don’t know why, but I have been especially tired over the last 2 weeks. Maybe it’s because I’ve gone out and taken photos every night after tutoring and that has tired me out. Maybe it’s all the christmas craziness going on at the school. I find that I have to keep my iPod on during their rehearsals, otherwise I’d be going bonkers.
I mean, how many times can you listen to kids performing the theme music from Jurassic Park (why? Please tell me why?) and Rock Me by Queen? I have heard it for months every single day during lunch time! How many times?
And then it’s all the Christmas songs, it just gets too much at a certain point. The Taiwanese have a thing about kids singing. It’s really bad. At our condo building, they will play music over the speakers, and it’s Santa Claus Is Coming To Town in English and in Mandarin, on repeat for all eternity! I wonder if anyone has complained? Probably not, because you can’t really hear it from the inside of the apartment, but every time you get out, you get assaulted by the same song. And this has been going on for weeks.
I had to have my keycard changed, and for some reason that took about 30 minutes. All that time, I spent listening to that christmas song. We have run out of fresh coffee at work, so it’s back to instant. With fresh coffee, it takes me a few cups before I am able to wake up these days. With instant, I don’t know.
It reminds me of one of my students. The Taiwanese will have a nap during midday after lunch and right before starting the afternoon classes. There is one of my students who sleeps so hard during this period that when my class starts, all of the class tries to wake her up. Normally it takes tickling from one of the other students for her to budge. BTW, she is a 4th grader. I can’t imagine how it must be, because I was shouting at her trying to wake her up, clapping my hands, hitting her desk and nothing worked.

Tonight, we are both tutoring until 8:30PM. We have to pop by the RT Mart and get some meat before coming back. I am not looking forward to the next few days. I have long days ahead with no end in sight. I am dreading the christmas concert. It’s turning out to a whole affair. Our days normally start at 8 AM, but we are both at work at around 7:30AM. We leave at around 5:15PM. Tomorrow is Friday, and there is no TGIF, because we have to stay at the school, eat their food and then work at the concert for the whole night, then clean up afterwards. It’s looking like it will be over at around 9:30 PM.
At least I will get to sleep in on Saturday. I plan on doing nothing except taking some photos on Saturday. All I have to do is to drive the wife to the trainstation because she is going to do some more research at the NTNU library on Saturday. I’ll pick her up later on from the station as well. But that is it. I’ll stay in, eat some food, watch some things, play with some photos and maybe go out at dusk to take some pictures in the city.
