Adult Conversation / IELTS Class

The outside of the HSR Hsinchu (located in Jhubei) station. Taken with a Nikon D200 and a 18-35mm lens on the 16th of January 2007. Part of the HSR Series 2.

Things went pretty well with this lesson plan. Most of the students enjoyed participating in this exercise. It is a great way to get them all involved and works best with around 6 students. The fear questionnaire also works great.

With 6 students, the 1st part which is how credible you are, takes about 45 minutes. Another 45 minutes can be used for the fear worksheet. I especially liked the quote from Mark Twain:

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear – not absence of fear.

Mark Twain (1835 – 1910)

I love analyzing it, meaning that basically bravery without fear is stupidity. You have to know fear to master it. It also reminds me of the litany against fear from Dune.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Today after coming back from work, I went to the RT Mart and got some raw red tuna and a large piece of salmon. We ate well, I made some raw red tuna, served sashimi style. Meanwhile, the salmon was being pan roasted for about 20 minutes, with some garlic, lemon sauce, curry and some Thai spices.

I had some tea while my wife and I relaxed after our meal and watched an episode of CSI followed by an episode of Beauty & The Geek. Pretty entertaining after a short work day.
