Thailand Chronicles 7: Ao Chalong

The view from a secluded beach near Ao Chalong. Taken on the 21st of February 2007 with a Nikon D200 and a 18-200 VR lens. Part of the Thailand Chronicles Series.

After we cleaned up, we met JS and his girlfriend for a late night dinner. We ate in shop just across the street and played some pool and caught up on old times and what we had discovered in Asia.

He said he enjoyed life in Thailand and that he had been here almost for a year. He looked good, tanned and wiry, and no more black clothes, though he had stopped that years ago when he went travelling across India and Sri Lanka.

We played some pool and went to bed.

The next morning, the awakening was a bit rough. We were meeting up at 9AM and it was hard for us after all that travelling.

We were ready in time and we visited his house. It was a nice place. His girlfriend cooked us breakfast/lunch, Thai style. We ate a few different curries with rice. Delectable.

After that, we went to a small beach, that was tucked in between Rawai and Ao Chalong Pier. Pretty cool. We didn’t swim, but we then left to find an internet cafe. At the same time, I found a cheaper place to rent our next motorcycle from.

I am driving a 100cc Yamaha Mio, and it is a lot more powerful than my old scooter at home. I could probably hit 100KPH on it and Phuket does have the nice long and wide streets for that. However, my wife is always in the back and she does not like driving fast, so I slow down.

Our plans for the next few days?

Taking it easy in Ao Chalong and a few other beaches. I know that Kata and Karon are pretty near by. Patong is at most 30 minutes away and I want to see those beaches.
