NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month 2007

A cloud in Taipei. The sky has been extremely beautiful in the past few weeks and I’ve been taking a lot of photos of clouds.

I’m currently considering participating in NaNoWriMo this year.

Let me just explain quickly.

You take the challenge of writing a novel of 50000 words in the month of November (or at least trying to…). That’s about 175 pages when it’s printed out. That’s about 1666.66 words a day. I’ve got an outline of what I would write about, though nothing concrete has been put on paper or in a word file. My only concern is that my blogging will suffer, since I would be writing a lot already.

I know that it would push me to explore writing in a way that I haven’t done in years. It’s always easy to start stories as a writer, it’s harder to finish them and to follow your outline. Nevertheless, I think that I’m up to the challenge. I don’t know how satisfied I’ll be with the result, but I’m willing to give it a go. In fact, I’ll do my best to finish it by the 30th of November.

I know that I do work well under pressure, most of my journalism writing has come out pretty well and was well received in Quebec and in Taipei.
