Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.
From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.
I didn’t like this episode. It was a bit of a bore. It’s too bad. The new season of Torchwood isn’t starting out with a bang. I actually like the new season of Primeval a lot better than the new season of Torchwood.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

A couple is getting burgled. The man is knocked out the woman is cornered by the two burglars. Strange screams ensue. The end result is that the two burglars are out of commission. One of them was thrown out of the window.
Torchwood is called in. They don’t get anything from the scene of the witnesses until a burglar wakes up in the ICU and tells Gwen that the woman Beth was responsible. He says this right before coding.
The team takes Beth into custody and question her. It smells like Cybermen to me. The lights go out when they question her. There is some kind of electro-magnetic field that was generated around her. Owen can’t break her skin with needles or a scalpel. She’s an alien of some sort. The alien that Jack shows her is afraid of her.
Jack is planning on using a mind probe. They install Beth into the chair. They find a buried compartment in her arm. It surfaces after the torture. Beth keeps repeating the same thing. Jack thinks it’s her name, rank and serial number. Jack says that she is a sleeper agent for an invasion fleet. The implant has got a lot of data in it about Earth and Torchwood. Jack says that they need to show it to Beth.
They decide to freeze Beth. There is other way.
Other sleeper agents are activated. In the freezer, Beth is activated as well. Beth is gone. Jack thinks that they took her off the network. She’s got some other agenda now. Her other self kills her husband with her implant hand. Patrick Granger was murder. He takes charge of the city in an emergency. The aliens are making their play. They take out a military oil pipeline. The entire telephone network is down. Mobiles and landlines are down.
The last alien sleeper agent is heading for a storage mine where the DOD stores some nuclear bombs. The alien is starting its assault on the facility. Captain Jack drives him over. He stops him, for now. Gwen disables his nanometric forcefield and Jacks shoots him. He asks him when are the other going to arrive. He says that they are already here.
In the end, they have to kill Beth to stop her.
