I use Wikipedia all the time.
From checking out book and movie information, to researching mathematics.
It’s too bad it’s only available online.
Well that’s where you are wrong!
Thanks to Greasemonkey and Google Gears, you can take Wikipedia offline.
Basically, you inject Google Gears code into a website thanks to Greasemonkey.
If you have Google Gears and Greasemonkey already installed, you can download this user script and go ahead and take Wikipedia offline. Just click on the link. Greasemonkey will let you know that this is a script that it can process and will ask your permission. Once that is done, navigate to Wikipedia and allow it to use Google Gears. You’ll see a popup that will ask your permission for Wikipedia to use Google Gears.
From that moment on, Wikipedia will be on your computer and will sync itself. Google Gears also works with Google Reader. I’m sure that most Google Apps will follow suit eventually. Actually, you can modify the code to take any site offline instead of waiting for the site to be compatible with Google Gears. This is actually what the script does.
