Spooks is back for another season on BBC. I’ve really enjoyed the last few seasons of Spooks. They aren’t afraid of getting rid of important characters. On top of that, this show has realistically portrayed intelligence operatives, which isn’t easy to find.
Spooks will be back for another season, but a lot of actors are going to change. It is the last season for Rupert Perry-Jones, who plays Adam Carter. I’ve also read that a new spin-off show called Rogue Spooks will air next year. Sounds good.
As with other British television shows, it’s common for a lot of the main actors to rotate out after a while. Spooks is no exception. It doesn’t really matter if Adam is gone. This actually gives the writers a good way to do some interesting story arcs.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The US and Iran have signed a bilateral peace agreement, under the stewardship of the UK. Anna is leaving for Vancouver.
Adam and Ros are attending a special TV show where Bakshi, Bob Hogan and the British foreign secretary will be panelists. Kaplan is there to help write the story. Kaplan senses that something is wrong. He tries to warn Adam about certain members in the public seats, but it’s too late. There is a hostage situation taking place.
15 hours earlier Harry is meeting Bob. He informs Bob that Iran has the nuclear triggers. Iran is probably arming their missiles right now.
Harry wants to talk with Bakshi. They arrange a meeting with Bob. They plan on resuming full diplomatic relations, offering them a prime trade agreement, cessations of all military operations, a retreat from their territorial waters in exchange for the denouncement of Hezbollah extremists and keeping their new nuclear power quiet. They’d pretend that they have been in talks for over 6 months and make it public fast.
13 hours later the siege is still going on.
The bodyguards leave in exchange for the release of some of the hostages. They stage the show and ask the Special Consul some hard questions.
10 hours earlier Harry is readying his team for the special program. Adam meets with Kaplan. In exchange for his story, Kaplan wants information on the French woman from the Yalta Group. He doesn’t know who she is, but he hands a photo of her over to Adam.
Bakshi tells Bob and Harry that they want a seat on the permanent security council of the UN. Hogan walks away.
Ros meets the Frenchwoman of the Yalta Group. She briefs her on Bakshi’s demands. She plants a bug on Ros. She tells Ros to use Anna.
Adam shows Ros the picture of the Frenchwoman. She takes it and denies knowing her. Ros proposes to use Anna as bait. The Frenchwoman is following Ros. She asks Ros for a pregnancy test. Anna says it’s her husband’s.
Bakshi agrees to the deal. Ros tells Anna. Ros doesn’t know what she got into with the Yalta Group.
1 hour later, the Foreign Secretary is being interrogated by the terrorists. Adam says that the terrorists know something. The main terrorist mentions nuclear triggers. Looks to me like a setup from the Yalta Group. Adam tells Harry to cut the transmission. They are terrorists from a splinter group called Whites Against Islam. Ros recognizes one of them from the photo she was handed by Adam. Connie recognizes one of the security people at the BBC as MI5.
Kaplan SMSs Jo. He says that he is still in the studio.
Richardson, the MI5 guy, has been in deep undercover for 3 years. Adam asks Ros where she has seen him before. Ros denies remembering the exact place or time she saw him. They put the feed back on but only in the accomplice’s apartment. They take him in.
Kaplan shows himself to Ros.
Richardson tells Harry about the Yalta Group. It’s a secret organization that has embedded itself in European intelligence services. Yalta is against America. 3 years ago he infiltrated Yalta. Richardson says that Yalta had to be stopped. This was the only way.
The terrorist asks Bakshi about Yalta. Bakshi knows about Yalta and tells the terrorist about the secrecy of this organization. Yalta helped Bakshi blackmail the government using poison to get the nuclear triggers out.
Adam wants Kaplan to drop the lighting rig. The terrorists want to execute Bakshi. In the scuffle, Ros shoots the head terrorist. He shoots Bakshi in the stomach.
Ros gives the photo back to Kaplan. Harry briefs the attending public that they will all be hired by MI5 for the rest of their lives. They will have to sign the Official Secrets Act. There can be no refusals.
Harry talks with Kaplan. Kaplan tells him about the photo. Harry wasn’t aware of this. Kaplan shows him the photo. Harry takes it.
On the way out, Bakshi mentions Anna. Adam knows she is alive. Ros realizes that she has led Yalta to Anna. Harry forbids them from interfering. Ros tells Adam where she is. Adam uses the car as a weapon and eliminates the hit team. The official transit had been canceled.
Ros and Adam kiss and make up.
