Prison Break is an American serial drama television series that premiered on the Fox Broadcasting Company on August 29, 2005. The story revolves around a man named Lincoln Burrows who was sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit and his brother Michael Scofield’s elaborate plan to help him escape his death sentence.
Created by Paul Scheuring, the show is produced by Adelstein-Parouse Productions in association with Original Television and 20th Century Fox Television. The current executive producers are Paul Scheuring, Matt Olmstead, Kevin Hooks, Marty ,Brett Ratner.
The show is currently in its third season. The uniqueness of Prison Break is attributed to its serialized story structure, a similar format used by Lost and 24, and to its setting, as very few television series were primarily set and filmed in a prison. Its success and recognition as a prison drama revived interest in the genre following the success of Oz.
Two full seasons of the show have aired so far. However, due to the Writer’s strike, there are only 13 episodes which have currently been produced for the third season. The final 5 episodes began airing in 2008, starting Jan 14. If the strike is still active when the thirteenth episode airs, the series will be put on indefinite hiatus until new episodes can be written and produced.
Well, the guys actually make it out of Sona. However, what could go wrong went wrong in this episode. The worst outcome imaginable, unless you count getting caught and put back into Sona. That didn’t happen for our main characters, but I found it a bit annoying how the writers tried to link the characters even though it was evident that they could no longer be linked. There are a lot of examples in this episde. For example T-bag and Sucre. I won’t get into the details, but these characters could have just left the series at this point, not unlike Sara Tancredi.
Nevertheless, this was a gripping episode. The escape was filled with danger. Sculking through soldiers in order to get out into the jungle. The plan was genius, but what happened afterwards was totally unpredictacle. Well, not completely unpredictable. The show could have ended after the second season easily, but it didn’t.
The escape wasn’t as gripping as the one from Fox River. Still, it was thrilling. This was a great episode. It’s a shame that we only have one more episode left this season.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
