The one song that I wanted to hear today while I was commuting was The Rip by Portishead on the new album Third. I didn’t have it on my iPod. It’s a complicated situation. I only had time to synch my songs on my iPod when I left Taiwan, not copy the songs onto my portable HD. Everything was pretty much last minute. I don’t know why. I had lots of time to prepare, but only bought the portable HD the day before leaving.
I’m listening to it right now. The song kept echoing in my head while I was riding around town on the bus. It’s a wonderful song. I’ve received some nice comments on my Portishead Third review that I posted on the weekend. They are much appreciated. I tried to write how the music made me feel more than anything else, instead of writing a dry usual review, which I wrote by the hundreds when I was running my electronic e-zine Horripilations (98-03).
