In Treatment will last a total of 43 episodes. In Treatment is based on the Israeli series Betipul. Gabriel Byrne plays Paul Weston, a psychologist trying to deal with his patients while going through some personal problems. Each show focuses on a different patient. Mondays feature Laura, an anestheologist infatuated with Paul. Tuesdays feature Alex, an ex-fighter pilot traumatized by events that happened a few years ago. Wednesdays feature Sophie, a suicidal teenage gymnast with Olympic aspirations. Thursdays feature Jake and Amy, a couple in couple’s counseling. Fridays feature Gina, Paul’s own therapist and mentor that he stopped seeing 8 years ago for some reason.
I’ve always loved psychology. This show really feeds that need. The sessions are almost verbatim of what would happen in a real session. This show is about characters, not actions. It’s a very smart show and I am also very surprised that Marky Mark is the executive producer. Marky Mark has had success with Entourage so it makes sense that he decided to try out other projects.
This is a great show. I really liked it. I find that it’s best to watch it a few episodes at a time. I recommend this show.
In this session Paul and Kate go to therapy together. They see Gina and Kate hears what Paul has been thinking about in these last few weeks. She learns about Laura and isn’t happy about this, even though Paul hasn’t had an affair with her. Kate had an affair with a guy and then went off to Rome with him.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Gina is slightly rearranging her furniture in anticipation of Paul’s arrival. She’s got two chairs ready. Paul arrives with Kate. They exchange pleasantries. It was Kate’s suggestion that she come to the sessions. Paul couldn’t talk to Kate, because he was too angry. Kate came back on Tuesday and he asked her if he should move out. Kate said she didn’t want that. Kate wondered why he wasn’t able to talk to her about this.
Paul has trouble not blaming Kate and finds it surprising that this is his fault, that he pushed her into having an affair. Paul says that he is falling apart. Paul says that he attacked a patient. The pilot was the target. Alex was spying on them. Alex threw this in Paul’s face. Paul didn’t know where he stood. He says that he needs that other place in his life. Kate says that their home should be the place.
Kate talks about trying to explain about having a baby. Paul tries to analyze this. Paul says that Kate is the best thing in his life. Kate says that she doesn’t believe that. Paul has trouble saying that he loves his wife. She doesn’t think that he needs her. In the beginning when they were seeing each other, Kate was overwhelmed by how important she felt in his eyes. He was the first person who tried to understand her. She was shocked to find out that it was all about him and how he uses this against her. She’s become the patient married to the doctor.
Gina asks Kate to explain why she was seeing Edward. Kate says that there was some excitement and adrenaline of experiencing this. She can’t trust herself to be herself. She did it because she felt wanted. Kate is describing how it feels to be wanted. While she is talking, Paul and Gina exchange glances. He knows what it feels like because Laura wants him. Kate notices the non-verbal cues. Paul starts to talk about transference. Kate understands that a patient had feelings for her. She asks if he f*cked her. He says that he talked about this with Gina. Kate realizes that he has he has feelings for Laura.
I think that Kate is taking the higher moral ground for no apparent reason. She’s the one who went to Rome with her lover. Kate knows that this started a year ago. Kate looks shell shocked. Paul takes out his check book and wants to pay her. Gina says that she will send him a bill.
