Women’s Murder Club No Opportunity Necessary S01E08 (ABC)

Women’s Murder Club is a police procedural drama on ABC based on the James Patterson books. It features a series of women who work together to solve cases. Lindsay Boxer is a Detective Inspector in the San Fransisco PD. Jill Bernhardt is the ADA. Claire Washburn is the medical examiner. Cindy Thomas is a reporter that works with them on police cases.

I haven’t read the James Patterson books, but the title is pretty lame. I mean, come on. Women’s murder club? WTF! Basically the main characters are all in one aspect of law enforcement, from the police, to the coroner to the DA’s office. A new member of the club is part of the media.

When I think of the title of this show, I think about a bunch of women drinking tea and investigating a murder. None of them would be involved in law enforcement, they’d just be interested in murders and solving them, kind of like a babysitter club. OK, maybe not a babysitter club, but you get the idea.

I still haven’t made up my mind about this show. The really annoying part is that there is a lot of the story missing, like how did Lindsay get divorced and what exactly did happen during the Kiss Me Knot serial killer case? Maybe the show plans on revealing this later on or maybe the series is based on one book in a series and we are missing a few key details. The fact that they producers and writers chose to make the show about a new case every episode is telling. If it focused on the Kiss Me Knot killer, it would have taken a story arc to find out who killed the women. Currently, three new episodes are in the process of being aired. The first two have been aired. Only the last one is left. The show’s current status is still uncertain.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

A father and a son get assaulted in a break-in. The son is already dead. The father won’t make it. The son was shot twice. They find a little girl in the attic hiding out. The father is still alive after surgery. The daughter looks traumatized. The girl showed up with Heather’s kindergarten school day at the precinct.

Cindy offers to question the neighbourhood. Lindsay refuses. They find a giant 5 tattooed on Javier’s chest. He’s part of a gang.

Heather arrives with Snickers, the class pet, to help Esela to open up. She mostly remembers sounds and the guys speaking funny Spanish.

Tom wants to take Lindsay to see the head of the Cinqos gang. He met him during his time with the gang taskforce. X doesn’t want to talk to Lindsay. He wants to talk with Tom.

Cindy does some investigative reporting and finds out that Javier had a tiff with a guy named J-Bird over his girlfriend. Lindsay has to answer Tom’s phone while Tom is busy. A girl wants to kick Lindsay’s ass and she gets arrested. While talking on the phone, she manages to incapacitate the 300lbs Cesar. She calls the uniforms to arrest them for possession and assault. Tom says that Javier was a gang wannabe.

Jacobi is with Mr. Kiraga. Kiraga is an illegal immigrant and will be moved to a detention center as soon as he is fit.

Claire says that Ed wants to go to Tom’s wedding. She has to go as well. Javier drank a potion from a Brujah. Cindy traced the protection bracelet from Javier to a Brujah on Guerrero St. Lindsay is at a scene. Lindsay is still stuck with Tom. Javier wanted a potion to get a return his beloved Marie-Sol. Corazon tells Lindsay where they can find her.

Jacobi is still interviewing the neighbours. No one is speaking up. Claire is worried about Lindsay. Lindsay is hanging around Tom. Jacobi knows about the sex. He’s unwilling to get involved.

Marie-Sol says that Javier had 5000K$ stashed in his apartment. It was for his other sister in Mexico for the coyotes to bring her over. Marie-Sol says that the tattoo was to commemorate the five remaining members of his family once his mother died.

There is a funny moment where Heather is pissed at Tom for going on the street again. Lindsay is giving Jacobi a play by play of their argument since it is being broadcasted on the interrogation monitors.

Jill tells Lindsay that the elder Kiraga is gone. Jill gets Denise to back her up against HLS.

Cindy finds a witness. He was robbed. Lindsay says that he was hit by chico robbers. They hit illegals knowing that they won’t go to the police. The witness has worked for the same construction company as Javier. Cindy is reminded of the two creepy guys she met there. Perhaps they had something to do with this.

Tom says that X wants to meet with them. X says that Kiraga came looking for a gun. Kiraga knows who killed his son and wants to get revenge.

Esela is about to identify the strange Spanish speakers. They are the construction workers. Esela can’t identify them.

The HLS agent takes custody of Esela and will deport her to Mexico once her father is captured. Denise says that the agent is a bitch. She tried.

Lindsay thinks that the Brujah is involved with her sons. Kiraga is holding Corazon at gunpoint. Lindsay and Jacobi arrive just in time. There is a showdown.

The Brujah was involved and arrested with her sons. Jacobi tries to reason with Agent Nadia Delachon the HLS agent. He is able to make a connection with her, using their similar background. She says that amnesty can be granted to certain illegals. He makes a good play for it and she accepts.

He is way too sexy for her!
Cindy on Jacobi.
