Lost There’s No Place Like Home S04E12 (ABC)

Lost is a United States serial drama television series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. The show was created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber, and is filmed primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii. The pilot episode was first broadcast on September 22, 2004. Since then, three seasons have aired. The show is produced by ABC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and Grass Skirt Productions and airs on the ABC Network in the United States. Its incidental music is composed by Michael Giacchino. The current executive producers are Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse. Because of its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming in Hawaii, the series is one of the most expensive on television.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This is the story of the Ocenic Six, right after they got rescued. This is what happens in the flashforward. In the present, Jack and Kate go after Ben, Locke and Hurley after they learn that the mercs are here to kill everyone. Faraday starts evacuating the survivors. Ben, Locke and Hurley go to the Orchid and Ben surrenders to Keamy, who’s got the Kahana wired to explode. Sayid and Kate get captured by the Others. Alpert is there and as always, he looks the same age.

Sawyer tells Jack that Claire disappeared. In the flashforward, Jack finally learns that Claire was his half-sister. He realizes that Aaron is his nephew. In the future, Sun takes over her father’s company.

This episode tells what initially happened to the Oceanic Six when they arrived back home. Sayid met Nadia. Hurley went nutty. Jack buried his dad.

This was an interesting episode. It was better than last week’s episode. It could have been a season finale, but I’m glad that there are a few more episodes to go before the end of this season.

Since Alpert seems ageless, it’s logical to think that he has some form of immortality. I believe that since the island is somehow involved in time travel, that Alpert actually is mortal. He just appeared in the past and then appeared in the present. Time didn’t pass for him, but it did for the rest of the world. That is the power of the island, which is why Faraday is here conducting relative time experiments.

Here is Dr. Richard Alpert’s wiki entry:

Dr. Richard Alpert is Ben’s advisor who seems not to age. He witnesses the early birth of John Locke in the 1950s. Five years later, Alpert asks Locke to identify which of several objects rightfully belonged to Locke; Locke chooses a knife and Alpert leaves in disappointment. When Locke is in high school, Alpert attempts to recruit Locke to Mittelos Bioscience, a front company used by the Others. Decades later, in the 1980s, Richard conspires with Ben to slaughter the Dharma Initiative. In the 2000s, Richard recruits Juliet for Mittelos Bioscience. Once Locke arrives on the Island, Alpert helps Locke to recruit Sawyer to murder Locke’s father. Richard prefers not to take a position of power, but disputes several of Ben’s decisions. After Ben is taken prisoner sometime after day 90, Richard leads the surviving Others to the temple.

She is going to have her baby. Then they will have to discuss what will happen to their company.

Hurley arrives home. He finds his family missing. He finds a coconut in the lobby. He can hear some strange whispering. It was just a birthday party for Hurley.

In the future, Jack is doing his father’s eulogy. Claire’s mom is at the funeral. She says that she is the reason why his father came to Australia. She says that he came to see his daughter, her daughter Claire. Claire was on the plane with Jack. Jack is shocked to hear that Claire is his sister. Aaron is his nephew.

Michael tells his story on how they got back to NYC. Desmond screams for Michael. They find hundreds of kilos of C4 wired together ready to explode. That’s what Keamy has got on body.

Kate spots some tracks of people who doubled back upon them. It’s Alpert. They are surrounded by the Others. The man who doesn’t age.

Ben gives Locke some directions to the actual Orchid station. Ben says that he’s going to take care of the armed men. He’s always got a plan. Ben walks into the trap set by Keamy.

Sun walks onto the deck of the boat.

Jack and Sawyer go after Hugo. Kate and Sayid are captured by the Others. Locke and Hurley are waiting. Ben surrenders. Keamy knocks him out.
