Women’s Murder Club And The Truth Will Sometimes Set You Free S01E12 (ABC)

Women’s Murder Club is a police procedural drama on ABC based on the James Patterson books. It features a series of women who work together to solve cases. Lindsay Boxer is a Detective Inspector in the San Fransisco PD. Jill Bernhardt is the ADA. Claire Washburn is the medical examiner. Cindy Thomas is a reporter that works with them on police cases.

I haven’t read the James Patterson books, but the title is pretty lame. I mean, come on. Women’s murder club? WTF! Basically the main characters are all in one aspect of law enforcement, from the police, to the coroner to the DA’s office. A new member of the club is part of the media.

When I think of the title of this show, I think about a bunch of women drinking tea and investigating a murder. None of them would be involved in law enforcement, they’d just be interested in murders and solving them, kind of like a babysitter club. OK, maybe not a babysitter club, but you get the idea.

The really annoying part is that there is a lot of the story missing, like how did Lindsay get divorced and what exactly did happen during the Kiss Me Knot serial killer case? Maybe the show plans on revealing this later on or maybe the series is based on one book in a series and we are missing a few key details. The fact that they producers and writers chose to make the show about a new case every episode is telling. If it focused on the Kiss Me Knot killer, it would have taken a story arc to find out who killed the women. Currently, three new episodes are in the process of being aired. The first two have been aired. Only the last one is left. The show’s current status is still uncertain.

This case involves a rape case from a few months ago. The student was involved with another student in raping a girl. The case wasn’t strong enough so Jill’s team decided not to pursue it. This has disastrous effects in the lives of a few people.

If the next two episodes are better, I think that there is a strong chance that this show will get picked up for another season. Currently, it’s being watched since there aren’t that many fresh episodes of shows being broadcasted.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Lindsay is confused about sex. Her dog doesn’t know any better. The new case involves a college student who usually jogs at midnight. He got shot twice. Cindy says that the dead guy was accused of rape a few months ago. There is a growing altercation in-between the students.

Colin Morris is the dead kid. Kate Hammond was the one who accused Morris of rape. Kate tells a story of group rape. She wanted Colin pay for his crime. She was a bad witness. She was drunk at the time of rape. Her parents made her sue Colin. The night before she was at a dorm party. Everyone around her treats her differently. She’s got about 100 witnesses. Lindsay wants to talk with Jay Osborne, who was involved as well.

They interview him. Jay says that Colin was his best friend. No one had a motive to kill him except Kate.

Cindy is under pressure to print a story soon.

Jill and Lindsay get briefed by Claire. Colin knew his attacker. The murdered shot him once. Then the gun was positioned point blank against his chest and fired again.

Denise is pissed about a piece that Cindy wrote for the Register. It blames the justice system. Denise says to cut her off. They aren’t happy campers. Lindsay is cutting Cindy off as well.

Tom finds Lindsay starring aimlessly into space at her desk. He tells her some BS story about the Kendall case. He did what he had to do, but he didn’t like it. She’s been here for about half an hour. This is about the girl. She doesn’t want to be the one who puts her away.

They talked to 41 kids from the dorm party. They state that Kate was at the party until after 2AM. They all have cell phone photos from her. Each photo was taken within 19 minutes of each other. It’s not possible for her to go to the track and shoot him in the rain. She wasn’t wet and her hair is the same.

Tom thinks that Kate’s father is involved. He’s in town again. He’s hostile and his wife is cooperative. They interview Charlie Gifford, Kate’s boyfriend. He had a fight with her about living together. They broke up after the rape. He’s got a lot of alibis.

Jill thinks that Charlie could have done it. Lindsay and Jacobi think that the kid doesn’t have it in him.

Lindsay’s boyfriend Peter drops by. The guys at the office are running a pool on when she will sleep with him. It hasn’t happened yet. Lindsay and Peter go out for coffee. Tom sees them. Kate confronts her about bothering her family. Peter makes her feel better about the situation.

Jacobi tells Lindsay found some DVDs from Colin’s room. They see both boys practicing their stories for the civil suit. Jay made the disk so that Colin could improve his testimony. They just rehearse. They don’t say that they lied. Jill says that it’s not enough to pick up Jay. Jill is acting strange.

Jill turns up at Lindsay’s home. She says that she’s angry with herself, not with Cindy. Kate’s case came up. The consensus was that her case wouldn’t go to trial. It wouldn’t be successful. Jill didn’t speak up.

The next morning, Jill gets a warrant for Jay’s place. He got excited when they took his meds. They found GHB. Claire confirms it. It’s almost pharmaceutical grade. Jay’s was homemade. Colin was a chemistry major.

Jacobi finds out that the gun used in the murder was used in another crime, an armed robbery. They arrest Mr. Parker. He probably sold his gun to the killer. They entrap him with a drug charge.

Peter and Lindsay are getting busy in her place. They have sex. The next morning, Peter has got breakfast waiting for her. They talk about their night. They both had a great time.

Leon Parker took the deal. His description of the boy who bought the gun sounds a lot like Jay Osborne. Parker says that the kid who bought the gun had a tattoo on his arm. Jay hasn’t got a tattoo. Charlie does. They go and pick him up. Jay’s lawyer has a press conference planned. It’s a setup because they knew that Jay was going to walk.

Charlie shows up with a gun and starts shooting. Cindy was hit in the chest. It looks bad. She was lucky. She’s fine, aside for blood loss.

Charlie wants to talk. He tells them Jay was posting about Kate in a chat room all morning. She begged for it. Charlie defended her. He shot Colin.

Lindsay doesn’t believe him. One shooting was careful and planned. The second one was wild. Lindsay thinks that Kate is the one responsible for the murder. They find a steam duct.

They bring Kate to see Charlie’s confession. One of the tunnels goes from the dorm basement to the track. No one really knew about this. They had to go through the archives. She tells Lindsay that she was on GHB, a homemade batch that didn’t show up on the test.

Kate confesses to Colin’s murder. They taunted her afterwards. They sent her a valentine.

Tom hands her an arrest warrant for Jay. They found a trace of the homemade GHB in Kate’s blood.

Cindy’s doing better.

Lindsay finds Peter waiting for her at her place. He wonders if they should just end it all. He’s leaving for Cambodia in a week. They decide to continue their relationship.
