Typhoon Weather

Today started out strangely. There was some sun and some rain. At the same time. It was explained to me at work later on. Typhoon weather. A typhoon is coming into Taiwan. Typhoon Kalmaegi is coming in.

In between the spurts of rain and the sun, I managed to teach my morning classes, pick up 15$ worth of fruits (6 apple pears, 4 dragon fruits, 10 nectarines, 5 grapefruits) and come back home safely. I hate driving the scooter in the rain.

This can only mean one thing…

I’ll be able to run tonight in the rain. I’ve been looking forward to trying this for weeks, but it never panned out. Tonight will be an easy 4 km or 5.2 km run. No more. I’m still recuperating from my 15km run of last night. Tonight, I’ll try improving my time and picking up the pace. I’ll run at a faster pace. This will also mean that it will be more of a workout.

Thinking back, the last part of the run was most definitely a more muscular and mental effort, than cardio-vascular. The thing was that I couldn’t really run faster, my knees, ankles and feet were hurting. I could have managed the effort though. I think I need to build up that ability by working on 5 km and 10 km runs, with a faster pace. I’ve read that some runners complete 5km in 21 minutes. 10 km in 45 minutes. Those are the type of times I want to be able to complete.
