Doctor Who Partners In Crime S04E01 (BBC)

Doctor Who is a long-running, award-winning British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police phone box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems and righting wrongs.

The show’s lead character is currently portrayed by David Tennant. A Christmas special co-starring Kylie Minogue aired in December 2007, and the fourth series started on 5 April 2008. For that series, Catherine Tate will reprise her role of Donna Noble, from the 2006 Christmas special, as the Doctor’s latest companion. Midway through the series, Freema Agyeman will also return to her role of Martha Jones, following a multi-episode guest appearance in the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood. John Barrowman will continue his role as Captain Jack Harkness, and Billie Piper will return as Rose Tyler for three episodes. Elisabeth Sladen is also set to return as Sarah Jane Smith in a cameo role.

After a 2008 Christmas special and three further specials starring David Tennant, scheduled to air in 2009, Doctor Who is planned to return in 2010 for a fifth full length series.

From the Doctor Who entry at Wikipedia.

The Doctor is a long lived alien from the planet Gallifrey. He’s a Time Lord and travels through time thanks to his aging time capsule the Tardis. David Tennant is the tenth Doctor. My favorite has always been Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor. The Doctor periodically regenerates. When he does so, he changes outward appearance which let the producers change actors easily. All Time Lords regenerate 13 times. The Doctor’s nemesis is the Master, a renegade Time Lord who found a way around this limit. Other enemies includethe Black Guardian, the Daleks and the Cybermen.

As always, this Doctor Who episode was great. There was a mix of adventure, mystery and comedy all combined together. Donna Noble finally finds the Doctor again, after having searched for him since their last meeting by investigating strange phenomena. At the same time, the Doctor is investigating the same case as she is, Adipose Industries who is marketing a new diet pill.

It turns out that an alien nursery is involved and that the Doctor has to stop the matron of the babies from infecting even more humans. The Adiposian babies get away at the end but the matron perishes. The most interesting fact of this show was the reappearance of Rose Tyler at the end of the show. Rose was the new Doctor’s first companion back in 2005. She stayed for two seasons before being sucked into another universe.

There, she finds herself trapped on the parallel Earth albeit reunited with Jackie, Mickey and the alternate Pete Tyler. Later, the Doctor manages to project his image through the last crack between the universes, sharing a tearful farewell with her. He informs Rose that she is presumed dead in the aftermath of the invasion, thus verifying Rose’s soliloquy at the start of the episode “This is the story of how I died”. Rose in turn mentions working with that parallel Earth’s (non secret) version of the Torchwood Institute due to her experience with aliens. Finally, Rose tells him she loves him, even though they denied it many times during the course of their time together. The Doctor begins to reply, getting as far as “If it’s my last chance to say it…Rose Tyler–” before the connection fails.

Rose is back for three episodes this season. Martha Jones will also make a multi episode appearance.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The Doctor and his new companion Donna Noble are investigating Adipose Industries, who are revealing a new diet pill. They aren’t working together. They are working the same angle on the same problem. They both visit clients of the Adipose pill.

The weight disappears 10 past 1 at the morning. Roger tells the Doctor that the burglar alarm wakes him up at 10 past 1. “The fat just walks away” makes total sense to the Doctor. He examines the cat flap.

Noble’s patient sees the fat leaving her body like a little person. She witnesses it. The Adipose company activates something. They are killing her making her lose all of her fat. The fat is split up into small little things that scamper away. Noble sees one leaving.

The Adipose company is on the prowl to capture the little fatties. They know that someone was at Adipose and stole a charm that controls the process. Noble comes home to her mum. She’s on her case for not having a job. She recently moved back home.

Noble visits her granddad up the hill. Noble reveals to him that she is waiting for a blue box, the Tardis naturally.

The next morning, both of them return to Adipose Industries. Noble misses seeing the Doctor by seconds. Noble doesn’t know that they are onto her. Noble locks herself in the loo. The Doctor locks himself in a storage locker. They wait till the end of business. A reporter was waiting in the loo as well. The Adipose exec comes for her. Noble is relieved when they take her away.

The Doctor is on the top of the building he takes a lift down. He’s outside the office of Foster. They’ve tied the reporter up. She tells her the truth about the Adipose. She says that she’s the foster mother of the Adipose. It’s made out of living fat.

Both the Doctor and Donna are overhearing this. They spot themselves across the room. Donna is outside the office on the other side of the door. The Doctor is outside the window. They talk by mouthing their discussion. They are both spotted by Foster. They meet up in the staircase.

They have to do a runner to get away from the guards. They get away with the same fork lift. The Doctor surmises that Foster doesn’t have her own sonic device. He’s wrong. They almost crash. The Doctor stops the fall. Foster cuts one of the cables and Donna falls out. She’s hanging on by the cable. The Doctor is able to use his sonic screwdriver to get Foster’s.

The Doctor saves himself and Donna. Foster intercepts them. She has been hired by the Adiposian first family to seed the planet. They lost their breeding planet and Foster is responsible for breeding a new generation on Earth. The Doctor says that it’s against galactic law to seed a level 5 planet. The matron isn’t from Earth.

The Doctor uses both sonic devices to create a distraction. Foster wants to step up the birthing process. The Doctor tries to tap into the system. Donna tells the Doctor that she wants to come with him. Foster activates the inducer. She’s settling for the first million humans.

The Doctor stops the matron, but she’s still got 10000 births. The nursery ship arrives to get her. The ship gets the Adiposians. The Adiposians kill the matron.

Donna tells a blonde girl to tell her mom Sylvia that it’s that bin over there (where she’s put her mum’s car keys). She doesn’t realize that it’s Rose. Rose walks away and fades away into thin air.
