Chuck Versus The Ex S02E06 (NBC)

Chateau Frontenac

Chuck is an American science-fiction television program created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The series is about an “average computer-whiz-next-door” who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend Bryce Larkin, a rogue CIA agent, which happens to embed the world’s greatest spy secrets into his brain. This is called the intersect.

From the Wikipedia entry on Chuck.

While Chuck has to deal with his new situation, he gets to enjoy the company of Sarah, working for the CIA, and Casey, working for the DOD. They use him as an asset to accomplish their missions, which surprisingly happen around town (?).

Chuck has just started its second season and it’s still entertaining. The mix between an everyday guy and espionage doesn’t get boring, since the character of Chuck actually puts us in these situations as well. I recommend it, though it’s not for everybody.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This was another good episode. We learn what happened right after Chuck got thrown out of Stanford. His girlfriend went over to Bryce, just to make things worse. Chuck sees her again and tries to impress her, which works for a few days, but it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. He has to completely come clean, but Jill finds out that Chuck is a spy.

It’s 2003 and Chuck is trying to talk with Jill, his ex. He learns that Jill is dating Bryce Larkin. Chuck is reminiscing at the BuyMore about what happened. Emmet, the new boss, tells him to focus on his job. Emmet has brought donuts for Big Mike and he starts choking. Emmet performs the Heimlich manoeuvre.

Chuck is setting up the computer systems for medical conference. Jill walks in. He meets Guy Lafleur, her boss. He flashes on him, who works with infectious diseases. Back at the HQ, the General tells Chuck that Guy Lafleur is about to sell secrets. The General wants Chuck to date his ex so that he can flash on something else.

Chuck has asked Devon to teach a CPR class at the BuyMore. Ellie doesn’t want him to see Jill. He arrives in an expensive suit and a Ferrari F430. Casey is the maitre d’ and all of the customers are CIA. It’s funny, as funny as Casey’s wig.

Chuck immediately gets to the hard questions with Jill. Sarah and Casey have to pull him back from burning Jill. He turns a new leaf. Jeff and Lester turn up as Chuck leaves and ruin his cover. Jill learns that Chuck still works at a BuyMore.

Sarah and Casey are surveilling Jill and Guy. Morgan, Jeff and Lester want to grab the CPR exam from Devon’s place. A bug is on the fritz and Chuck proposes to plant a new one. This saves Jill from being tranquilized by Casey.

Chuck surprises Casey when he charms his way back into Jill’s hotel room. They make out. He comes to see Sarah and Casey. Sarah is obviously jealous. Chuck sees Wolf Den going to see Guy. He flashed on a man coming up to see Guy. He’s some kind of assassin.

Jill talks to her friend Sherry and he makes another mess when he talks into the mic not knowing that Jill could hear him. Wolf Den throws Guy out of the window. He’s dead. Casey questions Jill. Jill tells them that Guy discovered an anti virus to a weaponized influenza virus. That’s why he was killed.

At the BuyMore, it’s time for the CPR test. Jeff, Lester and Morgan are copying from Chuck’s exam. Sarah tells Chuck that she’ll present the paper instead of Jill. Chuck didn’t want to put Jill at risk. For once, we’ll hear Yvonne Strahovski’s real Australian accent. As she starts her presentation, Wolf Den releases the weaponized influenza virus. Sarah goes after Wolf Den. Casey quarantines the conference center. He calls Chuck to call in the cavalry and to get Jill for the anti-virus.

At the scene, Chuck doesn’t want to risk Jill, so he decides to go inside the quarantine zone himself. She injects him first. Sarah kills Wolf Den. He’s got CIA ID. He’s going to have to mix the anti-virus in situ. He brakes the syringe and has to find a new way to vaccinate the people. Chuck wants to kiss Casey to pass the anti-virus to him. He does, but it doesn’t work. Jill comes in with a hazmat suit to do her job. They start vaccinating everyone. When they walk out, Chuck gets applause from the CIA, FBI and emergency staff on location. Jill makes out with him again.

During the exam, Morgan and Lester make Jeff swallow the cap of a pen so that they can see Capt Awesome performing the Heimlich manoeuvre.

Wolf Den was a Fulcrum agent, he was a rogue CIA agent. The General wants to use Jill as bait. Jill gives Chuck a call. Sarah is listening in.
