How long will it take Hank to mess things up with Karen? Not very long. Hank’s usual nice disposition doesn’t win him any favorites when he tries to talk his way out of a warning. He just gets arrested.
I enjoyed the whole first series. Even though some critics were against some of the more controversial scenes, I enjoyed them. It paints an interesting picture of the life of Hank Moody and his messed up life. Hank has been a real asshole in the past, but at the end of it all he’s a good man. If you thought that the second season was going to be any less controversial, think again. This time, it’s mouth rape.

This episode gives some background on what happened between Karen and Hank the first time around. It all has to do with Kurt Cobain in 1994. Hank is concerned about his lump.

Hank is getting his lump biopsied. There is a flashback to 1994 when Kurt Cobain died. Karen is watching the news on the TV of his death. She’s crying. She tells Hank that she’s preggers. They are both involved in other relationships. They haven’t decided what they are going to do. Hank starts writing again after he’s heard the news. Karen is his muse. Karen leaves. She decides to go to Kurt Cobain’s vigil with Hank.
Meanwhile, Becca is upset that they aren’t telling her what’s going on. Hank is all moody with Charlie. Ashby phones and Hank ignores him. Ashby drops by to see Karen. He wants to see Moody. Hank comes back and sees Ashby. He runs after him and wants to kiss his ass. They have a little mock fight. Hank misses his doctor’s call.
Daisy drops by to see Charlie. She’s found a place. She doesn’t want to do any more porn. Charlie still wants to screw her and manage her.
Ashby and Hank sort things out. Hank wants to keep doing things with Karen until they can no longer do it. Karen tells him that she needs more. The words aren’t enough anymore. Doctor Royce calls back. His lump is benign. All he needs is antibiotics.
