Life stars Damian Lewis as Charlie Crews, a police detective who was recently exonerated of a series of murders after having spent 12 years in jail for life. There was a conspiracy to send him to jail. Part of the reason that he as able to last as long in jail was to get back and to find out why he was setup. The setup involves the killing of the Seybolt family. Crews recently discovered Rachel Seybolt alive. She’s been living with him.

Charlie knows that Jack is being threatened. Dunn committed suicide in 1988. He went to police academy with Jack. Crews decides to start with Dunn’s widow. She doesn’t have much to add.
Reese and Crews go to their next case. It’s a man found crushed in a car at a junkyard. Mike Brodie was the victim. He just moved in with his girlfriend Rosa. She was his fiancée. In the last few weeks, he went to the garage and locked himself in.
Mike Brodie had an IM affair with Bethany. Each time he did something for her, she sent him a pic. Bethany was involved with a fatty at the junkyard. Rob wrecks the computer he was on.
Earley starts teaching his class. When he informs them that it’s a graded class, not pass/fail, most of the class leaves.
They both met her on a website. He can’t tell them what happened the night that Brodie died, it’s a secret. He stops talking. Crews thinks that he can find her. The geeks in sex crimes will take a few days to find her. It’s a low priority. They decide to go through the IM traffic. She played for a school team in tennis. She moved back home. They have an address.
Bethany is a junior in college. She calls her mom. She hands them the phone. It’s her husband. She says that her husband deals with all of this. Mr. Gray is in the music biz. He denies that his daughter is involved in anything bad.
They investigated Bethany’s old residence. She used to be in an apartment with two other girls. Bethany was screwing her professor. The next time they go back to see Gray, he’s got his lawyers waiting with him. The cover of Gray’s new album is modeled after a photo of his daughter with her lover.
Charlie asks his ex to get some of his stuff, which she put in storage. They get frisky, but before Charlie can do anything more than kiss her, she leaves him with the keys.
The three students in Earley’s class don’t have a lot to say. Charlie hangs around with Bethany. Reese asks Nathan’s wife Lynn about her past. Crews tells Bethany that someone might be pretending to be her. She’s driving like a madwoman.
Crews is told that Rachel is speaking again. She’s talking with Jack Reese. Crews finds him with her. Crews pulls a gun on him. Rachel says that he came to say goodbye. Jack has got a terrible haircut. He didn’t tell them where Rachel is. He says that he’s always been protecting her. Bethany tells them that her father went missing for two hours at the party she was at with her mom. She hasn’t stopped crying since Reese talked with her.
Mrs. Dunn says that her husband wasn’t cleaning his gun. She IDs another cop from the photo, Micky Rayborn. They’ve arrested Nate Gray.
They put Bethany and Rob in the same room. He confronts her about killing Mike with a tennis racket. It turns out that Lynn was the one who killer her, not Bethany. Mike said that he loved her, but when he saw her, he laughed. She didn’t mean to kill him.
