I’m playing Mass Effect. It’s pretty good. I’ve been a fan of Bioware since the original Knights of the Old Republic. The game is quite different from Fallout 3.
I’m about 12 hours into the game and stuck on Feros while I try to take out the Thorian. I like the gameplay, but it’s unforgiving. I’ve died quite a few times. That actually makes the game more addictive, because of the difficulty. Easy games are boring games.
What’s most impressive about Mass Effect is the amount of work that went into the creation of the setting. It’s a really nice space-opera-esque setting that works really well. Humanity has just joined the galactic civilization, and it’s a dangerous galaxy out there. AI research is illegal and there are a lot of baddies out there.
My roommate remarked that the lighting was more dramatic, but the textures were a lot less beautiful than in Fallout 3. I ten to agree. It’s still a pretty game.
The reason why a lot of us lust after the Art Lebedev Optimus Keyboard is because of the OLEDs, organic LEDs. It’s one of the most advanced keyboards and having a little screen on each key is really awesome. This leads us to think about laptops and how to integrate something like the Optimus into that design. It’s the holy grail of mobile design, the dual screen laptop. It’s kind of like a Nintendo DS, only for adults. Having two screens is the ultimate in mobile technology. I’ve always wanted something like this and most of us here agree that it’s the way of the future. Two screens. Both touch screens. Will this really revolutionize laptops?
That was almost my score at Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2. You get into a zone when you play this game. I swear in three languages and shout at the screen while I play. So much that my roommate came out to see what was happening. It was pretty funny.
Still, it’s a great way to relieve stress at the end of a day. My points make me the 125,000 in the world. To get into the top 100, you need to score over 100,000,000.
