Mass Effect

I’m playing Mass Effect. It’s pretty good. I’ve been a fan of Bioware since the original Knights of the Old Republic. The game is quite different from Fallout 3.

I’m about 12 hours into the game and stuck on Feros while I try to take out the Thorian. I like the gameplay, but it’s unforgiving. I’ve died quite a few times. That actually makes the game more addictive, because of the difficulty. Easy games are boring games.

What’s most impressive about Mass Effect is the amount of work that went into the creation of the setting. It’s a really nice space-opera-esque setting that works really well. Humanity has just joined the galactic civilization, and it’s a dangerous galaxy out there. AI research is illegal and there are a lot of baddies out there.

My roommate remarked that the lighting was more dramatic, but the textures were a lot less beautiful than in Fallout 3. I ten to agree. It’s still a pretty game.

Dual Screen Laptop: Will It Become Reality?

021709_rg_dualscreenlaptop_01.jpgThe reason why a lot of us lust after the Art Lebedev Optimus Keyboard is because of the OLEDs, organic LEDs. It’s one of the most advanced keyboards and having a little screen on each key is really awesome. This leads us to think about laptops and how to integrate something like the Optimus into that design. It’s the holy grail of mobile design, the dual screen laptop. It’s kind of like a Nintendo DS, only for adults. Having two screens is the ultimate in mobile technology. I’ve always wanted something like this and most of us here agree that it’s the way of the future. Two screens. Both touch screens. Will this really revolutionize laptops?

Future Shelving: A Great Way To Charge Your Gadgets

021709_rg_plugandplay_01.jpgShelving hasn’t changed much in the last 50 years. There’s nothing more boring than picking up a pair of shelves from Ikea and putting them in your pad. Most of the time, you have to mix and match and that never looks good. Thankfully, new types of shelving are coming out. This shelf is a technological piece of furniture, that will enable you to light your space, charge your gadgets and store stuff. That’s pretty nifty!

Novanta: A Workstation for the Future

021809_rg_novantadesk_01.jpgI used to have this huge Ikea desk in my office, which took up a large portion of it. It was huge, fit in a corner and extensions could be easily added. The trouble with large desks is that they become storage. It’s really hard not to just put stuff down on such a big surface, especially papers. I had stacks of papers all over the place. Although I love this desk, I know now that large desks aren’t always the answer. This desk kind of proves that point. It’s not overtly large, but has space for everything that you need. Plus, it’s got some neat features. Read on to find out more.

Look! Steampunk Case Mod Putting a bit of Frankenstein in Your PC

021809_rg_steampunkcasemod_01.jpgCase mods are always fun. It puts a different spin on the normal looking desktop, that we all want to hide away underneath our desks. I’ve just recently realized that desktop computers are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Slowly, but surely. Of course, a lot of people still have desktops, but let me assure you that there is a steady stream of users who will never buy a desktop.

New Cell Phones: From Idou to Solar Powered

021909_rg_3newcellphones_01.jpgEver since the iPhone came out, companies have been scrambling to create a real competitor. It’s not just that the iPhone rocks, it’s the features that you get. Sure it has its faults, but some of the perks are just really good. More and more touchscreen phones are coming out and are trying to compete with the Apple phone. I’ve always liked SonyEricsson phones. Usually, they work well and have an interesting combination of features.

The Emperor: The Insane Worstation From The Future

021909_rg_emperorworkstation_01.jpgIf you haven’t heard of the Emperor, it’s a really great concept from NovelQuest. An all integrated workstation, which looks like the ultimate way of spending a day in front of a computer coding or working. Not that we approve of spending all of your day in front of the computer, but it’s a fact that a lot of people are doing it. The only bad thing about this crazy setup is the price. 40 big ones. You heard me, $40,000! At that price, I’ll buy myself a few servers!

Solar Powered Cell Phones: Sustainable Phones for the Future?

022009_rg_solarcellphone_01.jpgUntil solar panels are harnessing a lot more power out of the sun, electricity will always be a precious commodity. Solar energy is a way to take things out of the hands of the Man and back into yours. I’ve read reports of people using solar panels on their houses and selling their excess electricity to the utilities companies. Sure they had to invest $20,000, but in the long run, they’ll be saving money. Now after having said all this, is there a way for our precious gadgets to also become sustainable?

The Dream Iphone Pro: The Ultimate Cell Phone?

022009_rg_dreamiphonepro_01.jpgEver since the iPhone came out, cell phone manufacturers have been trying to come up with a viable competitor. Until now, the verdict isn’t out. It’s agreed that the Apple iPhone interface and form factor are hard to beat. The GUI is probably one of the slickest on the market right now, and Apple continually tries to improve upon this. Iphone users love their phones. It’s a great machine packed with great features, but it’s got its faults. The iPhone Pro seeks to correct these faults.

That was almost my score at Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2. You get into a zone when you play this game. I swear in three languages and shout at the screen while I play. So much that my roommate came out to see what was happening. It was pretty funny.

Still, it’s a great way to relieve stress at the end of a day. My points make me the 125,000 in the world. To get into the top 100, you need to score over 100,000,000.
