This episode is all about Jin spending time with the French explorers in 1988 and Charlotte revealing a few secrets of her own to her paramour, Faraday. Jin finally shifts into 2004 and meets Sawyer. The others are astounded that Jin is still alive. He makes Locke promise not to bring Sun back. Locke plunges into the hole and it disappears as well.

It’s too bad about Charlotte, I really liked her character. Then again, I have a thing about redheads. One thing is for sure, she might come back from the dead at some point, although it’s been hinted that this won’t happen and that the character is really deceased.

Sun has a gun and Aaron in her car. She gets a call from her mother. Her daughter says hello. She says that she will be on a plane tomorrow. She steps out with her gun. She plans on killing Ben. He tells her that Jin isn’t dead. He says that he can prove it.

In 1988, Jin is still with the Frenchies. They hear the numbers being recited on the radio. Danielle says that they sailed from Tahiti. Montant is a Quebecer, not a Frenchman. I can tell from his accent. The team wants to find a radio tower. Danielle proposes for him to show them the radio tower. From there, he will be able to get back to camp. On the way there, Danielle has a cramp. Robert is worried. She’s 7 months preggers. Robert and Danielle don’t know the sex yet. As they stop, they find that Nadine has disappeared. Jin hears a growling. He tells them that a monster is coming. He wants to go ahead, but the others want to find their friend.

They find her bag. The monster takes a tree and throws down Nadine’s body. Jin tells everyone to run. The monster has Montant in its sights. The smoke monster braces itself and grabs him with a giant hand made out of smoke. Brennan grabs him. The others lend a hand. The monster is coiling itself around Montant. It’s like a snake made out of smoke. Brennan ends up with Montant’s arm in his hands. They are near some structure. It looks like a temple of some sort. They hear Montant calling for help. Robert urges the others to go get Montant. They go into the hole. Jin convinces Danielle to stay behind. Jin hears a strange sound in the air. Lights flash. The Frenchies are gone. Jin is by himself next to the temple. Montant’s arm is still there, all desiccated. He sees some smoke from a fire rising up in the distance. He starts running towards it. He finds a camp and a smoking pit. He finds two bodies. He hears people arguing in the distance. It’s the Frenchies. Danielle has got a gun. She has it pointed at Robert. He says that there is no monster, just a security system guarding the temple. Robert tries to shoot her. He’s got no ammo. She shoots him back. Danielle tries to shoot Jin as well. She tells himt hat he is infected or a carrier of the disease. There is another flash.

Jin hears Sawyer telling him to turn around. Miles wonders where Jin came from. Faraday says that the he must have been thrown off the boat and been moved in the flashes. Jin asks Charlotte to translate. She complies. She tells him of Locke’s plan to save the island. He says that Sun should have never left. Faraday talks with Charlotte. She’s dizzy again. There is another flash. Day becomes night. And another one. Night becomes day. Charlotte collapses. Her nose is bleeding. Juliet’s nose is bleeding as well. Sawyer is bleeding as well. Charlotte starts speaking Korean. She tells Jin not to let them bring Sun back. This place is death. Locke wants to leave Charlotte behind. Faraday doesn’t want to leave her. He says that he’s staying behind. Charlotte tells them to look for the well. They will find the Orchid at the well. The others leave them behind. They arrive. There are more flashes. The Orchid disappears. Locke sees the well. It looks deep. Miles wants to know how Charlotte knew that the well would be here.

Charlotte tells Faraday that she grew up on the Island. Her parents were part of the Dharma Initiative. Then her mom moved away. Her mom denied the existence of the island. She became an anthropologist to find the Island. She tells him that there was this crazy man who told her to leave the Island and never come back. That man was Daniel.

Faraday tells Charlotte that he enlisted Desmond’s help. His mother will help them through him. Charlotte dies.

Locke gets ready to go down the well. He makes Locke promise not to bring Sun back. He wants Locke to tell Sun that he’s dead. Locke goes down the shaft and there is a flash. The flash is coming up from the well. It’s a big one and he falls and breaks something. When Sawyer opens his eyes, he finds that the rope that he was grasping goes into the ground. There is no well anymore.

Locke has got something through his leg. He hears someone approaching. It’s Christian Sheppard. He says that he’s here to help John the rest of the way. Christian tells him that he had to move the island not Ben. That was the wrong choice. Locke needed to move the Island. Christian says that there is a woman in LA. Once all of them are together, she will tell them exactly how to get back together. Her name is Eloïse Hawking. Christian says that he will die, as Richard told him. It’s called sacrifice. Locke accepts his fate. Christian tells him to give the wheel a push. He says that he can’t help him up. Locke has to crawl. He gets up and sees the wheel. It’s off its axis. Light is flashing through the hole. Christian wishes him good luck. Locke is successful and the light flashes hard. Christian tells Locke to say hello to his son.

Ben says that there is someone that can show Sun proof that Jin is alive. It’s the same someone who will give them a way back to the island. Kate leaves when she deduces that it was Ben’s plan to get back to the island. He says to give him 30 minutes. Sayid leaves as well. They leave in the van to get the proof.

They finally arrive. Ben gives Sun Jin’s ring. Locke gave it to him. Sun agrees to go back to the Island. Desmond walks out of the shadows. He’s still looking for Faraday’s mother. Ben leaves and the others follow. They find Eloïse in the church. She says that this will have to do for now. She wants to get started.
